we're getting light rain in san rafael this morning. to come. it's going to get heavier as we mover throughout the weekend. this will be a popular place for people to stop by today. this is san rafael fire station number two, where they have sand, they have bags they have a shovel all ready to go for anyone who wanteds to protect their homes with flooding from the sandbags. apparently a lot of people have come by to get them this week. the battalion chief told me the pile was bigger a couple days ago. we did get a preview of what's to come. most areas picked up less than an inch of rain yesterday, more coming this weekend. the forecast is for several inches of rain to come down in most areas. some areas will get more rain. in just a couple of days than they did during all of last year: with so much rain falling in such a short period of time, san rafael firefighters tell me they are gearing up for the possibility of flooding and mud slides. >> anytime we have with mud voids, we want to make sure that pumping stations, telephone building

over an inch in san rafael. this is a pretty good storm in the bay area. back to you michelle. >> the downpours caused headaches in most of the bay area. anne makovec is in comp bell. anne? >> reporter: now is a good time to get out and drive because it is not raining. i spent much of the morning driving from san francisco to san jose. the traffic was moving so slowly, people couldn't get too out of control, but i talked to some drivers talking about some major hydroplaning going on. this is what things looked like. a long highway 17 at the summit. several inches of rain fell in the early morning hours. the biggest traffic trouble seemed to come from the guadeloupe parkway. all of the lanes were shut down southbound approaching taylor. there was a lot of flooding there and on the taylor street bridge. two of the lanes have reopened and the rest of the highway will open later on this afternoon, but be aware of that if you use the guadeloupe parkway. take a look allot these pictures. there were a couple of cars that got stuck downtown in flash flooding. the

we have been seeing rain at the richmond san rafael bridge.eloping news this mountain view police are searching for a suspect on the loose near two schools in mountain view. kron 4's mike pelton is at the scene now with more. lime police have cleared the scene. they tell me that it was after 4:00 a.m. that officers ran a license plate that came back stolen. when they approached the car of the men fled. they were able to apprehend two of them but a third man they stated escaped. despite the use of both police departments, they stated that they eventually did that this suspect was out of the perimeter so they called off the search. that suspect is described as white, late teens to early 20's when all dark clothing. even though he is still on the lows, police tell us that they do not think he is a threat to the community. >> i have no indication that he was armed so there was no stolen property or drugs recovered from the scene. at this point, we are stating that he has no danger to the community. and fact that this point the perimeter has been b
