new exhibit in the south bay is highlighting black students and the challenges they faced at san jose state jesse gary tells us about the archivist behind the display. inside multiple libraries across san jose exhibits meant to mark an ending also signal a new beginning. i think there is a way in which juneteenth is almost becoming a second black history month, san jose state university archivist carly low spent three years researching the black experience at the college prior to the 19 sixties. the black spartans exhibits highlight students and their stories such as lucy turner. she was the first african american to attend and graduate from sjs you known as the normal college back then. in 19 oh, seven and palo alto in william holden, a poet, orator and aviator. he attended the school from 1935 to 1941. there is some comfort. for me and knowing that there were other black people here before me. and so that was part of my desire to do. an exhibit like this exhibit was originally on display inside the mlk library during black history month, but the celebration of juneteenth gave it new life,

i went to san francisco state university.our community so special. after graduating i worked for an investment bank in hong kong for a few years before returning when my dad said he was retiring. he passed away a few years ago. after taking over the business we made this a little more accessible for visitors as well as residents of san francisco to visit. many of our teas were traditionally labeled only in chinese for the older generation. today of our tea drinkkers are quite young. it is easy to look on the website to view all of our products and fun to come in and look at the different varieties. they are able to explore what we source, premium teas from the providence and the delicious flavors. san francisco is a beautiful city to me as well as many of the residents and businesses here in chinatown. it is great for tourists to visit apsee how our community thrived through the years. this retail location is open daily. we have minimal hours because of our small team during covid. we do welcome visitors to come in and browse
