east of downtown sanford. and fox 35's jackie orozco is live on the scene. >> reporter: as of right now still a developing story. sanford police are not releasing too many details right now. they don't want to jeopardize the case. they have not even told us how many people they're looking for in the shooting. that's the apartment where it happened, where the light is turned on. we spoke to the next door neighbor and she said that her neighbor heard all of the commotion and kids crying when this happened. let's look at video from earlier. you can see a lot of detectives here conducting the investigation through the night. they arrived here at the kensington oaks apartments and found a woman in her late 20s with gunshot wound to her hand. another man was discovered with gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene. this is what the next door neighbor told us a little while ago. >> i have been here for going to be three years now. never, nothing has happened like this at all. i have never been so close

this happened inside a sanford apartment. we sent news 6 reporter shaun chaiyabhat to the apartment on stonebrook drive. what are you learning about this attack? >> you mentioned all of those injuries. we have also learned that one of those injuries is life-threatening. i'm going to step out of the way so you can see the crime scene investigators are still here on the scene. the attack happened inside one of the upstairs apartments here at stonebrook. sanford police say around 3:00, they got a call from a woman screaming, saying dogs were attacking them. the first officer who got to the possibly pit bulls, all on top of one woman. that woman suffered some very serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital. the officer shot the dogs, killing four of the five. now, four other people were also hurt, including two children, but again the most serious injury could be life-threatening. neighbors say large dogs here are not even supposed to be here. >> oh, wow. >> have you ever seen pit bulls in the area? >> no. pit bulls are not

it happened late last night at kensington oak apartments in sanford. mark lehman is following this breaking news. what are police saying about a possible suspect. >> police aren't releasing any information about who the gunman is or if there is more than one suspect. just 30 minutes ago, police remove the crime scene tape from this apartment complex. we have learned the shooting happened inside apartment three of this building. this is video overnight. a line of officers making their way into the same apartment. police say they got the 911 call around 10:30 for reported gun shots in the area. two were found shot as officers arrived. a man was killed and a woman with a bullet wound to her hand. so far, that's the only thing investigators are saying about what happened here. we spoke with a woman who lives right next door to the apartment she says her boyfriend heard the commotion and heard children crying and screaming after the shooting. we are working to gather more information about a possible suspect. coming up in the next half-hour, you'll hear fro

summer: a bloody scene at the stonebrook apartments in sanford tuesday after a woman is nearly mauled to death by multiple pitbulls inside a 3rd floor apartment. a sanford police sergeant writing in his report, "adults and kids on scene were screaming that the dogs were killing her." that was just moments before he rushed inside and shot and killed five of six dogs in an effort to save the woman' s life. five weeks prior, a similar incident at this apartment complex in sanford where according to this police report , two people were bitten by four pitbulls living there, one of which lunged at an officer and was pepper sprayed. animal services and sanford pd tell wesh 2 the two incidents involve the same people. address of the man believed to be the owner of the dogs in last month' s incident, but no one was home. residents say he and his dogs were evicted several days ago, one neighbor telling us they were concerned about how the dogs are being treated. >> we were a little concerned there were so many dogs living in one area, because it' s a very small apartment. >> every time we' d wa
