now taking a live look outside at the santa clara valley from our camera on black mountain. let's check back in with meteorologist jessica burch >>we were sitting above average yesterday off in the east bay and down into the santa clara valley with a heat advisory, and today we're seeing very similar trends all the way off into the east bay yes, we're no longer dealing with triple digit weather, but it's still close in a communities like antioch and livermore and the upper 90s this afternoon. today we have 80s all throughout the north bay from novato, stretching up into santa rosa. you pass the golden gate bridge. you're holding on tight to 60s today with some cloudy skies along that coastline near half moon bay. low 60s. they're not necessarily looking nearly as similar as our friends down in the santa clara valley we have upper 80s this afternoon near san jose, low 90s along the foothills near los gatos and morgan hill. and those are the areas we keep a close eye on all the way down into the santa clara valley today, the national weather service has extended that heat advis

now anywhere into san jose we crank up the heat and 70s turning into 80s all the way into the santa clara valleys all the way down into morgan hill and that is what warwicking up too right now in the santa clara valley, beautiful sunrise from the black mountain cam. notice how visibility is great into the santa clara valley from san jose stretching down into morgan hill too. as we take a look at the daytime highs today, you already saw them all around me but where we're at when it comes to above average or below average. because as we make our way down into san jose, we're at 89 degrees this afternoon. well, that puts us a little bit above average, yes, because that area of high pressure is still sticking around and we're under a heat advisory today. issued by the national weather service from gilroy all the way up into san jose. that will change quickly though. by 9:00 p.m. tonight that gets expired and low pressure starts moving its way in heading into this weekend's forecast and interestingly enough, that's actually going to cool us down a lot. we're going to see a big change in the forecast

let's spend time in the santa clara valley. i want to talk about tomorrow. today we have 80s. seven days, starting tomorrow the cloudy conditions over the bay area, specifically over san jose and santa clara valley, they're going to stick around in the morning hours. into the afternoon hours tomorrow areas throughout santa clara valley will be under a heat advisory that starts at 10:00 a.m. issued by national weather service. it lasts throughout the afternoon hours. daytime highs can reach 90s, triple digits in the east bay. it's going to be a hot day for the heat advisory. hurricane debby is max winds around 75 miles per hour making it a category one. it is making its way inland pushing along the panhandle and making its way slowly back along the atlantic along the coast close to georgia. we'll keep a close eye on that as it re-enters close to the coastline and could gain strength too if it sits over the shoreline a little bit longer. we'll have more in a bit. if you have loved ones there, check on them. that hurricane is bringing in some storm surge to the local community. a

a heat advisory is in effect for the santa clara valley. let's get to meteorologist jessica burch >jessica>with >>how hot it will get. hey, >jessica>jess hey, ryan. let's take a quick look at that coast, because on that live look, you could barely make it out, but those clouds are still hanging along our shoreline areas like half moon bay all the way over to pacifica they're seeing a completely different sky compared to all of our friends in the east bay this afternoon that are dealing with some really warm temperatures. let's take a look at those daytime highs real fast. i'll remove the clouds so you can get a really good look at these numbers. starting off all the way up in the north bay 80s in the forecast today, anywhere from petaluma over into santa rosa. it cools down quick along those cool and cloudy coast lines anywhere from half moon bay. we're expecting 60s today. 60s in san francisco as well. but we'll get a little bit more sunshine there. we see extreme sunshine and a lot of heat off into the east bay this afternoon. 90s in the

in the santa clara valley, upper 50s, livermore, upper 50s.ybe you will not need a jacket in antioch where you are in the low 60s buddy the way it is comfortable heat and that will continue to be the name of the game over the next several days. we will see temperatures this afternoon , a couple of degrees below average. nice change of pace compared to the above average heat we have been feeling for the past couple of weeks or so. san francisco, mid-60s today. that will be about 3 degrees below average. upper 60s in oakland compared to the low 70s, that is normal. about 4 degrees below average. san jose will be seasonable in the low 80s. mid-80s for concord and in the locations. that is a couple of degrees below average. it depends on where you are and how much of that cooler air you will be feeling but everybody has a lower risk for heat related illness. great news if you have plans outdoors. no need to worry about spending time in the shade , although, you have to put on sunscreen. you will not have to worry about risk for heat related illnes

so today we're still holding on tight to 80s throughout the santa clara valley. but we're going to see a big difference in the forecast as early as tomorrow. let's actually take a quick look at the seven day forecast all the way into our tuesday forecast. we go that's where we're jumping from the low 90s to the upper 90s. still, plenty of sunshine to. but once the high pressure system moves out we're now talking about low 90s flirting with upper 80s for our wednesday, thursday, and friday forecast. cloudier skies too. and then the light at the end of the tunnel, of course, is the saturday and sunday forecast still seeing similar temperatures, but a lot more sunshine, which the bay won't necessarily get nearly as much each morning along the bay. we're still waking up to that marine layer, keeping us gray and cool. we're warming up only into the low 70s. after tuesday's forecast each day as we get closer to the weekend >veronica>vice president kamala harris is expected to officially announce her running mate tomorrow. it comes as the latest cbs news poll shows she

more of a push into the santa clara valley and over the oakland hills into the valleys of the east bay. once that fog will dissipate, then temperatures are going to warm up. what will be a fairly normal start to the day. let's take a look at the forecast lows later on tonight. 50s and 60s jumbled together. a mix of 50s and 60s. the psalm thing to the east of the oakland hills. more 60s there than anything else. around the bay mostly in the 50s. and also in the lower half of the 50s for most of the north bay and those valleys, collecting some of the cool air down to 52 degrees. and in santa rosa early thursday among. then temperatures, they will warm up. but into the low 80s. some spots staying in the upper 70s around napa and vallejo and farther to the east, that's where you find the heat still in the low to mid-90s for concord, antioch, livermore in the mid to upper 90s today. so things will continue to gradually back down. 70s and 8 os on the south end until you get to the santa clara valley where temperatures are likely to reach up into the 80s and the low 90s for los gatos and morg

we'll start in the santa clara valley where temperatures will be around 60 degrees in the santa claraley, near san jose and los gatos, upper 50s morgan hill, the warmest spots a little above 60 degrees, all these numbers close to normal and will continue in that vein through the weekend forecast. low temperatures won't change much, but there will be some change to our highs. one more day of above average but not ridiculous temperatures inland, low 90s in santa rosa, otherwise mostly 80s for the north bay. the hottest spots, east of the oakland hills into the low to mid-90s and the hottest locations not getting above 100 degrees. temperatures in the 60s and 70s in san francisco and oakland, 70s fremont, low 80s near redwood city and mid- to upper 80s in the santa clara valley. farther and farther inland temperatures are more likely to get into the low 90s near morgan hill. looking farther down the line, we can look at the ten-day temperature outlook. we use livermore as the representation of inland parts of the bay area because it has the most variation this time of year, one more toas

now, taking a look at what's happening for us this afternoon in the santa clara valley, we have a heat advisory that's been issued by the national weather service showing above normal conditions throughout the afternoon hours, anywhere from gilroy stretching up into san jose. so take it slow out there. this huge heat dome that's sitting over us right now will slowly start to retreat away as we head into the next couple of days giving us some cooler conditions as we get closer into the weekend's forecast. so let's take a quick look at what's happening for us all throughout the bay area. starting off with the next seven days. we do warm up a lot this afternoon, but we cool down fast into this weekend's forecast. upper 70s today, low 70s into thursday and friday, and we average out into low 70s into early next week for sunday and monday's forecast two. that's the bay. let's head over into our inland areas where the heat is definitely cranked up even more. triple digits today, low 90s tomorrow, low 90s into our thursday and friday forecast. notice the clouds start rolling their way in anyw

we'll get to the highs in just a moment. 60s in the santa clara valley. y else pretty much dropping into the 50s. even some low 50s along the coast and for the north bay valleys down to 51 degrees in petaluma but even those coolest spots should stay above 50 degrees. no 40s on the map to begin the day tomorrow. high temperatures are going to climb into the 80s and low 90s for the north bay. the hottest spots as always farther inland in the east bay. up to or around 100 degrees. the triple digit temperatures are going to be fairly few and far between. 70s for san francisco and oakland. near 90 down the peninsula in redwood city. temperatures mostly in the mid-90s for the santa clara valley. and as we look at the ten-day temperature outlook, we're going to see a quick drop. temperatures in livermore in the low 90s through the first half of the weekend but then returning to the lower half of the 80s by monday of next week. just remaining near or slightly below average for those high temperatures as we head through most of next week. the second full week of au

temperatures into the 60s in the santa clara valley. mostly 60s inland in the east bay with 50s around the bay and also 50s for the north bi. vallows tend to collect cool air more efficiently, and that's the case through tonight. down to the low 50s by tomorrow morning in petaluma and santa rosa. temperatures warm up into the mid-80s for the north bay. stepping back from the 90s today. triple digit temperatures east of the oakland hills today, mostly 90s. close to 100 in antioch. no such worries for san francisco and oakland, upper 60s and low # #10s. low 60s along the coast with temperatures in the santa clara valley more of a mix of 80s and 90s instead of the widespread 90s that we had today. morgan hill got up to around 100 degree this is afternoon as well. but as we head through the next ten days, if you are tired of the hot temperatures, we have good news in store for you. our temperatures step down closer to, well, reasonably hot for livermore, which is kind of the inland spot that we use as a representative. inland parts of the b

atmosphere as opposed to ground level, but some of it will be drifting, especially into the santa clara valley and inland in the east bay tomorrow with more waves of smoke coming off that fire. it's been producing a lot of smoke, a lot of fire activity around that today and still a concern into next week. as long as our ground level air quality is no worse than moderate, we're doing okay. we're looking out from salesforce tower and out from san jose towards santa clara, towards the golden gate, and you can see the haze. the temperatures are nice, 80s inland, 70s in san jose, also 70s across the bay in oakland and 66 degrees now in san francisco. everyone's temperatures will drop off as we head through the rest of tonight, but only to what's normal for this time of year, kind of leveling off in the middle portion of the 50s and we'll track the fog as we head through the rest of tonight, not a lot of it out there now. it will have to reestablish itself first along the coast, but it will as we head towards about 10:00, 11:00 or so and then it's going to push across the bay and make its way into t

let's look at what is happening near san jose all throughout the santa clara valley, the black mountain cameras showing a beautiful live set up of the clouds rolling over the valley. it will pay back this afternoon and we will see sunshine today. we are expecting light winds to start the morning getting breezier into the afternoon. here is what it looks like this morning, extending into the next few hours that we get 25-35 mile-per-hour wind gusts near san francisco. closer to dinnertime but it stays relatively light near santa rosa. all the way into napa. i want to show you what is happening into the next seven days. let's start with the bay forecast. a little cooler for us , sitting in the 70s. we have the marine layer soaking us in every day. you can see that behind me, the live camera over the bay bridge, showing gray skies and that is what we will see day by day as we get closer to the weekend. notice there is small day-to-day changes in the forecast, however it was only two days ago we were talking about triple digit weather in the forecast near our inland areas and today we are i

low temperatures and it will be a mix of 50s and 60s by early tomorrow morning, 60s in the santa clara valleyly 60s in the east bay. that is not that far above normal for that time of the year. 50s around the bay, temperatures inland, north bay, not going to be inland or mild as other parts, reaching down into the lower 50s by tomorrow morning and the temperatures will bounce back the north bay, climbs up into the 80s for the most part, the warmest parts, 90 degrees, today, hottest spots, east of the oakland hills, i think we will avoid triple digit territory. back within a degree or two of average. temperatures dropping back to more of a mix of 80s and 90s. still, 6 or 7 degrees above normal. getting closer and look at the gradual drop through the rest of the week. here is the good news, a return to the near normal levels by the second half of the weekend. from the climate prediction center, the warmest weather gets knowledged farther to the east. not just for the bay area but much of the state. once we are passed midpoint in august. there are signs of the weather making its way towards us t

the exception to the below average inland temperatures, the santa clara valley still right around what's normal in san jose, a whopping 1 degree below average tomorrow afternoon in the santa clara valley. we've been keeping you updated on the long range temperature outlook. on the eight to 14-day outlook which takes us almost to the end of august, we've updated you on the progression of the heat dome, the warmer than average temperatures getting closer to us once again. now looking to the end of august, it does look like all of the western u.s. is showing a strong signal towards warmer than normal temperatures, including the bay area, specifically inland. beyond the seven-day forecast the heat is probably going to return. how hot exactly it's going to be, that remains to be seen. be prepared. you knew it was coming. enjoy our normal august weather, some ups and downs, but tuesday temperatures get up farther into the 90s for inland parts of the bay area, no triple digit heat. around the bay temperatures in the 70s. we'll see morning fog giving way to afternoon sunshine after tomorrow. aro

we'll start with the santa clara valley where temperatures are going to reach down into the upper 50s low 60s. let's get the clouds off the map to read the numbers. temperatures farther inland in the east bay, a few mid-60s, even dipping to the upper 50s if, cool spots along the coast, low to mid-50s, around the bay, 50s with temperatures in the valleys of the north bay cooler, better chance of dipping down to the low 50s to begin wednesday morning. then our temperatures heat up inland. we'll see more 90s compared to today. forecast highs in the low to mid-90s inland in the east bay for the santa clara valley, mid-80s the most likely scenario, 80s for most of the north bay until you go farther north where temperatures get around 90 degrees for windsor, st. helena. those numbers aren't going to change much around the bay and along the coast. livermore shows a lot of ups and downs, but in the lower 90s, the coolest days around 90 degrees. the warmest days will be about a half dozen degrees above normal. we can handle that the first ten days of august. it looks like a warm start to the n

mostly in the middle portion of the santa clara valley. the warmest spots in the delta staying below 60 degrees. 50s around the bay, 54 degrees in san francisco. close to average low. and for the north bay valleys, cooler, collecting some of the cool air down to 50 in petaluma. 49 degrees by early tomorrow morning in santa rosa. then, the temperatures warming up. you will warm up by 40 degrees in santa rosa in the upper half of the 80s the rest of the north bay, reaching the lower 80s. temperatures on the hot end, not that hot. below 90 degrees. 60s and 70s for san francisco and oakland. mostly 70s around the bay. middle 70s for fremont. and in the santa clara valley, reaching up into the lower to middle 80s. territory that we can handle. not going to last forever. eventually we will return to closer to, well, 90s and triple digit temperatures, in the 6-10 day outlook it shows beyond the seven-day forecast we are going to keep the cool weather sticking around. the whole western u.s., you can get a sense of the big picture perspective. the

here's a look outside over the santa clara valley, made it up to 93 degrees in concord and san francisco 62 degrees, a good 5 degrees below normal for this time of year. the fog will return to the santa clara by early tomorrow morning. let's step over to the floor map and look how that is going to behave with the fog spreading out inside the bay making a push into the inland valleys but not too far. the weight of the atmosphere will compress the marine layer which means the shallow layer of fog wouldn't take long to back up towards the bay. this is the view around 9:00 tomorrow morning with the fog retreating from the inland valleys and temperatures warm up quickly. let's check out tonight's low temperatures which are fairly close to normal for this time of year. north bay first temperatures will be some of the coolest around the entire region dropping into the low 50s. i think the coolest spots around petaluma will stay out of the upper 40s. some of the warmer locations where you would expect where temperatures were the hottest today staying in the 60s in antioch, low 60s in livermore t
