we stay smoky through the weekend and rain chances later next week. i want to talk about the reason why that smoke is just stuck here. these are the exit routes for the smoke from the butte county "camp fire" with those light offshore winds, northeast winds bringing that smoke to the bay area. santa clara and tri-valley it's trapped. as it tries to move out into the pacific through the golden gate gap there, it gets blocked by the sea breeze so just off the coast there is a bit of a sea breeze there and that acts to block the smoke from coming into the pacific. so that means it is trapped here in the bay area. our smoke forecast really shows the red is that smoke and still continuing to be stuck here in our area. so that smoky pattern sticks around not just today but through the weekend likely into the start of next week. that low that we thought was going to bring onshore winds for the weekend is too far away from us to really impact our weather and bring some changes and try to kick out that wind there. but daytime highs today 67 in san francisco lo

we have hazy smoky skies. we will have a hazy, smoky friday. and there is bad air quality that will take us through the rest of the day and maybe even into tomorrow. atlas peak, and big rock in nevada, 13% humidity. so the red flag has expired, the fire condition cans are critical. north and east bay hill, sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesn't. 12% humidity above the oakland zoo. 11 percent humidity in the east bay. they do soundings over oakland. the dryest ever recorded yes. that is how dry this air mass is over us right now. an early breeze for some. port chicago getting a northeast wind, you don't see that very often. and the evil -- easterly breeze will come in. hazy, mild to warm but smoky skies. i think the highs come down 3 to 5 degrees by the fact that we have the layer of smoke over us and that will be a secure the sun. they will still be above average. so look for 60s and 70s. breezy for some. so 60s and 70s. everything is high and dry. there is the 27 up in lake port. fairfield 40. 65 at boom bay. east bay temperatures, 57

but in the meantime, we are talking about smoky conditions. now, the good news it's a little bit better compared to yesterday. just a little bit here. the numbers not as high as yesterday morning. but still talking about unhealthy air quality. current air quality readings 1:55 in santa rosa, 165 in san francisco, 117 for an aqi in livermore and 134 in san jose. so unhealthy but 150 or higher, that's some pretty bad air with unhealthy air quality conditions. so air quality advisory a "spare the air" alert still in effect. we are looking at some of the worst air quality that we have seen in the bay area ever. second worst for the bay area was recorded last friday with an aqi value of 225. the all-time record for the worst aqi value was 269 on ocr and that was during the wine country wildfires. anything above 200 that's very unhealthy air. and we'll continue to see a downward trend at least with better improving air quality conditions but a live look with our "salesforce tower" camera, and you can see the hazy start to the day. temperatures are o

union city, smoky again tomorrow. smoky again on friday, above that layer of smoke, crystal clear blue skies, but we won't get to enjoy it. 70 in union city on thursday and friday. two maps i'm show you. the first one shows you the ridge is there, even though it's weaker. we need a mechanism to push it out. the low pressure area we were counting on this weekend to do that is going to stay too far to the west. so the offshore wind may stop, but there's not an on shore flow to get rid of the smoke. so the ridge is still there, we're likely not going to have better air until the beginning of next week. one computer model, i'm going to show you the one that's showing more rainfall. there it is, thanksgiving day, and/or black friday, maybe green friday. this computer model says yes to rainfall. the other says maybe not so much, so we will go with the one that says yes. there's a better chance of rain late next week. we're going to stay smoky through the weekend. no rain for the bay area in the next week, but around thanksg
