and a frightening sight in southern maryland as a waterspout touches down in the potomac. good evening, i'm jim rosenfield. let's begin with the severe storms. we get right to chief meteorologist doug kammerer with the latest tonight. >> we have everything out there, flooding rains, a tornado that came through parts of area and we've got that tropical storm down in the southern portions of florida. let's focus in on our area first. you can see the rain that's come in over the last six hours, heavy rain, especially into southern maryland here. we've seen upwards of 5 to 10 inches of rain in parts of our viewing area. flood watches still in effect for most of the area, those flood watches in effect through most of the evening, in organizes of anne arundel county, a lot of the eastern shore under flood advisories. we have a tornado warning for caroline county along eastern shore in the delmarva. we had a tornado earlier around southern pargh portions of maryland, around the neck. rain coming down heavily, making driving difficult this afternoon. some areas seeing a lot more t

most of that on the eastern shore and in southern maryland. i was driving through calvert county last week and some of the corn looked to be in good shape and some of it was not so good. the right now we have temperatures man in the '70s locally. we're getting a break from the humidity northwest of town. it is a little more comfortable in some areas. we will see storms possible is out of washington later on today. 77 hours in the district. warm and muggy start. 78 in lexington park, 79 in quantico, 72 in culpeper. northwest of town is where it is cooler and where we have low humidity. 64 in winchester, 63 in cumberland 64 in frederick. dew points in the low to mid 50's up there. not a bad start in the shenandoah valley, parts of frederick county, and western maryland and west virginia. but locally is heavy humidity with the dew point of 72 degrees. to our south there is a boundary. that is drifting a little here and there. that will be the focal point for a few thundershowers here and there. that will be confined to south of washington today.
