in san francisco and clear the roadway and still some problems and i'll hand it off to you guys steph chuang is out there. >> she's live in san francisco this morning. a very busy morning there, as well, i should say, scott. >> that's right. traffic is now starting to pick up a little bit more. the concern is as we're getting into the rush hour time frame that the accident that was on the bay bridge earlier this morning may cause some problems. as you take a look at the video, you can see crews cleaning up an ilspill on eastbound 80 since the accident around 2:20 of a big rig crash. a solo vehicle accident. the good news is it seems the driver is fine and no one hurt. just east of first street on the san francisco side. i just spoke with chp two minutes ago and it did verify that three of five lanes are still shut down as crews are out there still cleaning everything up. the big rig has been towed away, but, again, the cleanup of the oil and debris still going on. the three lanes still blocked. san francisco fire also has reported more than 30 people responding to help at some point with the

. >> stephanie chuang live with the latest for us. looks pretty devastating, steph. >> we're just off the cal campus off of university avenue where firefighters are on scene now. they're climbing up the ladder to make sure there are no hot spots. i just spoke with the firefighters who said, thankfully, they've been able to knock this two alarm blaze down. it was going pretty badly, though, in the last hour. it broke out about 5:15 this morning. we have chopper video, in fact, that shows just how tall the flames were going. smoke is now here, but, again, before there were flames here. it was a very active battle. i'm looking inside this mandarin garden restaurant here at 2025 shaddock and it looks completely devastated inside. the good news is the firefighter says they were able to pretty much contain the blaze to this building, saving the ones next to it. this is, of course, very crowded here in downtown berkeley. so, a concern always is that the fire can spread very quickly. that firefighters were successful in putting this out. again, right now, they are checking

today in the bay stephanie chuang just arrived on scene moments ago. what can you tell us, steph? >> i can say, laura, it appears no one was hurt in this and firefighters had great control over this fire. started just after 4:00 and was under control within about 30 minutes, i'm told. it was at the apartment behind me here. i know it's dark and harder to see. no smoke, no flames for sure. there was concern because there's an elderly community that lives here, seniors who live here. i'm told that everyone was evacuated and, again, they're safe. so, again, that's the good news this morning. as for cause, we don't know any of that. we know that it started in one unit it appears and then there's mostly water damage to floors. other than that, though, it really has wound down since we arrived here. there were about six engines when we got here. dozens of firefighters and so many of them have now left the scene. so, we see command posts to the right of me and they're still kind of wrapping things up. but as far as i can tell, things are good here. by the way, we're at krlmont and lake h

"today in the bay" stephanie chuang live in ow news room this morning and reaction from a man who says he knows one of the victims. steph? >> that's right, laura. he says the crash put his close family friend in very bad shape. in critical condition with a broken jaw, a broken leg and a head injury so bad it required stitches. now, this is the man police arrested for the hit and run. 38-year-old christopher kohrs. he became a local sensation after so-called fans started a facebook fan page june of 2014. now, with more than 52,000 likes calling him the hot cop of castro. police say kohrs hit the two men with his dodge charger around 2:20 yesterday morning before ditching the car and running away from the scene in the north beach neighborhood. we spoke with one of the victim family friends who said the two men just finished watching a musical performance and started crossing the street when they were hit. >> it could have been much worse, but, he had just celebrated my mother's birthday this past friday with us, so, you know, we had just seen him. it's never a call you expect. >> meantime, police book kohrs into the san f
