i'm stephanie sierra. this announcement coming in just hours ago. and after almost five months, both sides in this strike showed up to the bargaining table for a fifth straight day. abc news reporter andrew dymburt explains how this tentative deal got done. >> the announcement coming on sunday. the writers guild has reached an agreement with the studios to end the nearly five month strike. more than 11,000 hollywood writers have been picketing the studios since may 2nd without getting out. but now, after several days of intense negotiations, the wga emailing members sunday night saying they have reached a tentative agreement with the studios. according to multiple media reports, the offer made saturday suggested the studios had taken steps to meet some of the union's demands. minimum staffing, residuals and artificial intelligence and data transparency. though the exact details of the deal have not been released. hollywood productions have been at a standstill for months, with both the wga and sag-aftra, which represents 160,000 actors on strike. bo

reporting in san francisco, stephanie sierra, abc seven news. air quality is impacted all around the bay area. >> on the peninsula we use drone view seven to get an aerial view of the haze over stanford university today and some views. it doesn't look too bad. you can see patches of blue sky above palo alto. check it out. you can see some blue sky above the golden gate bridge. not a bad shot there. a drone view seven flew over the marina district of san francisco today. there was noticeable haze in the sky, but visibility wasn't too bad. more than half of the branches of the san francisco public library were at risk of closing today, 17 locations don't have advance eight ventilation systems, so an air quality deteriorates. it's not safe for people or staff to be inside. ten branches can stay open, even in poor air conditions. two of them the main library and the mission bay branch, are designated air respite centers for san francisco. >> now, over in the east bay, the oakland zoo was closed today because of the smoke. it just wasn't healthy for

she spoke with abc7 news i-team reporter stephanie sierra about those discussions. >> you've raised numerous concerns before about all this, including access to water, lack of infrastructure. did you get a sense of how they plan to tackle that? well all i know that they have some water rights, but is it enough for a city? >> absolutely not. um, i sit on the water agency as mayor. we've turned down millions of dollars from from flannery to buy some of our land because they wanted it close to the base. it doesn't make sense to me. still >> now, to add to that, did you get a better understanding of how this city will be powered? >> well, that is a bit of an issue. they said that what they are going to do do is do mostly solar farm because that's a problem or it could be a problem with an air base because a reflection. but there are new solar panels that you can use on bases and some do. so that's what they're talking about. we know that p-g-and-e's does not have the power grid to hold up a new city. they can't even open some of our new car dealerships. so those are on generators or were because

reporting in san francisco, stephanie sierra, abc7 news. >> all right. well, the poor air quality prevented the oakland zoo from opening today. staff remains on duty. they're being encouraged to wear masks while working. they are monitoring the animals but they say there they're currently no health concerns. also in oakland, children's fairyland closed today at 1 p.m. due to poor air quality. now the smoky skies affected flights this morning at san francisco international airport. here's a live look for you at the airport. still doesn't look very good. it's still very hazy, but the faa placed sfo on a delay program earlier due to reduced visibility. an airport spokesperson says a total of about 10% of flights had some delays is averaging less than 30 minutes. there was no known impact at airports in oakland and san jose. >> it looked like dust suspended in the air today in san jose. the air quality index reached 127 this afternoon and that's considered unhealthy for sensitive people. it is expected to slightly improve to 96, which is in the poor range. s

exclusive interview, the ceo of flannery associates sat down with abc's seven news i-team reporter stephanie sierra to discuss his vision for the project and the future. >> yeah, she's here tonight with that story. steph, how is this? >> it was interesting and revealing tonight. we had a very candid conversation with john sramek. he's the brains behind this proposed new city in solano county that's focused on building affordable housing, clean energy and sustainable infrastructure. but for years, it's been kept secret. and tonight we learned why. john. for years, people have been wondering what is flannery associates and what isn't it? for our viewers who have been interested in this story, what would you tell them? >> i would say that it's definitely not the chinese. and so we have no chinese of any no chinese investors of any kind. flannery and the parent company california forever is a company that is proposing to build a new community in eastern solano county that is to be surrounded by renewable energy like solar farms and by open space agriculture and habitat. >> so a new community specifical

. >> i-team reporter stephanie sierra has been following this story ever since it broke and is here with an update. stephanie >> yes, well, this survey is described to be robust and comprehensive. this was actually the last time depape will have appeared in federal court before the trial begins in early november. and the judge is confident they will get a jury fast. jury selection will happen shortly after that on november 6th. the judge expects there will be 14 or 15 people selected as either juror, as either jurors or alternates. from there , the trial will begin on november 9th. paul pelosi is scheduled to testify on november 13th. and the i-team has learned members of the pelosi family will be in attendance throughout the trial as well. we also learned speaker emerita nancy pelosi will be named as a witness. last october, surveillance and body camera footage showed depape breaking into the pelosi home and eventually striking paul in the head with a steel hammer. he's been charged depape with federal attempted kidnaping and assault charges, along with a slew of charges in state court,

i'm stephanie sierra. we'll have more on that story in just a moment. but first, lisa is here with the weather. >> hey, good morning to you. we had our cooldown yesterday. that does continue. so, if you like, that fall feel, i think you're going to like the next couple of days. certainly the weekend there's a look at live doppler seven where there is a system to the north and west of us and that has set up a stronger onshore flow, a deeper marine layer. so we are cloudy to start out. temperatures are in the low 60s in oakland and hayward, a little muggy out there. it's certainly not cool. but as we look outside, you'll notice that it is dark out there and we'll see temperatures stay in the 60s through 9:00, noontime. we're in the 70s inland, elsewhere mid 60s to upper 60s. and by the afternoon low to mid 80s for our warmest inland valleys. it's a bit below average and we'll have those breezy winds as well. so we'll talk about the second half of the weekend and whether or not this cooling trend stays around for the last week of summer. coming up, stephan
