ktvu tara moriarty joins us now from the crash scene. tara. >> reporter: a tow truck is taking one of those squad cars away. these are vehicles from the contra costa county sheriffs department. they are loading it on that flat bed there. this is because the two cars got stuck in ice plants after a high speed chase. it happened around 3:45 this morning. two contra costa county sheriffs deputies noticed a black lexus without plates. now the driver led them on a chase into berkeley and after 11 minutes of pursuit they ended up here on 80 westbound just past the university avenue exit. the lexus drove into the brush. so there is a little bit of a fire out here. unfortunately the lexus driver got away. right now traffic is sort of crawling 80 westbound. this is typical for this hour. i don't know if this particular accident impacted traffic too much. if you pan over to the left you can see it just starts to pick up here past this accident. so we will continue to stay out here and let you know how traffic improves throughout the morning. live
