teresa garcia reports for wjz. storethe search for the secret to alzheimer's disease, will focus on one family. hundreds of members of one extended family that researchers say were born with a genetic flaw that dooms them to contracting the disease by age 50. >> we believe that it is time to launch a new era in alzheimer's prevention research. >> the families will participate in a clinical trial of an experimental drug scientists say could prevent the buildup believed to cause the memory-wasting disease. >> most, but not all researchers believe that the accumulation plays a critical role in the development of alzheimer's disease. and if that's right. and if we start early enough we may have a way to stop the disease in the tracks, before people develop symptoms. >> reporter: the study was announced just as the obom -- obama administration announced developments for the treatment of the disease in 2025. >> we've made considerable progress. but we know a lot more needs to be done. but it needs to be done now. because

as teresa garcia reports, they have released video of that suspect, taken just days after the victimsared. >> reporter: investigators have released new video of 35-year- old adam mayes, captured by a security camera, paying for a drink at a convenience store in guntown, mississippi, on april 30th. that's three days after police say mayes kidnapped a tennessee mother and her three daughters. investigators say the suspect's wife and mother also played a role in the kidnapping. mayes' wife was charged with kidnapping tuesday. she told police, she drove joanne bane and her three daughters to their home in mississippi. the suspect mother is charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping. the daughters were found last week in a shallow grave, behind the suspect's home in union county, mississippi. now, there's a massive around the clock search of the woods and back roads around that home. the fbi is optimistic that the two younger sisters, 12-year- old alexandria, and 8-year-old kileah are alive and with the fugitive. mayes was a family friend, who stayed at the baines' home on the 27th, to h

teresa garcia reports for wjz, a suspect in custody for kidnapping and murder, even though the girl's body hasn't been found. >> reporter: sheriff's deputies took antolin garcia. the 21-year-old is suspected of kidnapping and murdering 15- year-old sierra lamar, who was last seen walking to a school bus stop in march. >> we believe this is the worst kind of a crime. a stranger abduction of a young girl. >> reporter: lamar's disappearance led to a massive search in morgan hill, california, about 15 miles outside of san jose. her hand bag and cell phones were discovered near her home. but authorities never found her body. her mother is praying sierra is still alive. >> as a mother, i still -- im-- hopeful. because her body has not been found. and that gives me hope. >> reporter: according to authorities, the suspect has been under 24-hour surveillance since march 28th. they had his dna because he was arrested on suspicion of assault in 2009. investigators also found a link to the missing girl in his car. >> we have physical evidence , linking sierra to his vehicle. >> reporter: lamar's
