i have worked for the irs for 14 years. i risen to become a senior leader and currently supervised 12 elite agents and the financial crimes unit. i have worked directly with the multiple districts and have supervised or investigated cases and more than a dozen offices across the country. i have executed search warrants and more than a dozen countries. i've investigated and managed some of the largest cases, recovering more than $3.5 billion for the united states taxpayer. we believe in the rule of law, and that applies to everyone. there should not be a two track justice system depending on who you are and who you're connected to. yet in this case, there was. i am here to tell you that the department of justice handling the hunter biden tax investigation was very different from any other case in my 14 years at the irs. every stage, decisions were made that benefited the subject of this investigation. for example, prosecutors concealed contents of his laptop from investigators. including interviews executing search warrants.

more money to the irs and improved programs for the american people. a 2021 paper found that the wealthiest 1% may owe more than $160 billion in incollected taxes. according to "the new york times," tax compliant rates for high and low -- are high. tax compliants rates are high for low and middle income workers that have their taxes deducted automatically from their paychecks. the rich, however, are able to use accounting loop holes to shield their account abilities. low and middle incomes americans have high tax compliance rates. they pay their taxes. it's the very wealthiest and the biggest corporations that refuse to pay their fair share and rig the system here in d.c. in their favor. so mr. chairman, i'm interested in you can commit to holding a hearing about holding billionaires and big corporations accountable for evading taxes? this could be a bipartisan hearing. could result in reductions to the deficit. if we have interest in holding folks accountable, we should be looking at the biggest fish we can across the board. >> we're starting here tod

your reaction to the irs whistle blower hearing. vidence they're bringing of major political interference by biden doj appointees to block the criminal probe into hunter biden. what did you make of that? >> welk, it is very convincing, liz, absolutely convincing. i think america's watching this very closely. they understand that the department of justice the was weaponized, that joe biden weaponized them by stopping this investigation. look, these whistleblowers certainly seem to be credible, they're seasoned officers. they're basically putting their entire career on the line by coming forward here. i think they're very believable. again, the justice department was weaponize weaponized, and and this is unequal application of the law. elizabeth: so the criminal probe had been going on for five years, the whistleblowers basically saying when biden came into office, he put political appointees in there immediately, and they started to move to basically shut down the hunter biden criminal probe, bust it down to misdemeanors from felonies
