"today in the bay's" bob redell live for us outside of oakland international. bob, i know we were talking about southwest airlines which flies out of all three bay area airports. so what else does the report actually reveal in this? >> reporter: well, marcus, the report also says the feds say the faa has been lax, inconsistent, and ineffective in its oversight of southwest airlines. this according to a draft you a d audit which was obtained by "the wall street journal." according to "the journal" reporting the inspector general found that over a period of two years southwest airlines flew more than 17 million passengers on airplanes with unconfirmed maintenance record, one smashed both wing tips while landing and faa never penalized the airline for those alleged slip-ups. "the journal" reports the faa allowed southwest to, quote, fly aircraft with unres

vianey arana has a look at our microclimate forecast. and, boy, it turned out to be a beautiful day yesterday for the 49ers win. >> it was. i think it played a key role in the win. so now, though, we're experiencing very cold temperatures because that system that brought the showers yesterday morning is leaving behind, look at this in napa, 31 degrees. that is below freezing. san jose 39. concord 39. santa cruz 38. and up through santa rosa, 38 right now. so the temperature difference compared to the last 24 hours is pretty significant in some parts including livermore, ten degrees colder and napa 11 and oakland 10 and down through san jose 7 degrees colder compared to the same rain shower yesterday morning. now we're still dealing with the high surf advisory through 3:00 p.m. and talk about the king tides, we are expecting the high upwards of six feet around 11:54. so if you are around the coastline, be careful there is the possibility of coastal flooding potential. i know they have certain areas probably blocked off just out of safety.

all right, vianey, we'll see you in 15 minutes. thanks. >>> there is an effort to stop a mysterious disease to stop from entering the san francisco international airport called a respiratory virus. the centers of disease control is moving in to screen passengers as they land from one specific airport. the cdc is concerned about people traveling from wuhan, china. at sfo, lax and jfk airports those passengers will be screened for fever and cold or flu symptoms. the highly contagious potentially deadly disease is responsible for two deaths and 45 cases of the virus. sfo health screenings begin today when the first direct flight arrives from wuhan. >> when the flight arrives either connecting or non-stop passengers from wuhan would be diverted to a separate area inside the customs facility. airport officials say the cdc screenings will only delay wuhan passengers. symptoms of the virus include a fever, chill, aches, droutroubl breathing and a cough. if someone has symptoms they will be referred to a hospital. >>> now to a fast and fat

meteorologist rob mayeda is in for vianey arana.a look at our forecast. >> and the forecast does include some rain and the primary part of the rain has now moved to the east to san jose. you could see it on the storm ranger mobile doppler radar. that is the band around san matin and gilroy. you could see the showers behind that. the area of rain over the last hour or so, few isolated showers through about 10:00 and 11:00 this morning and once we pass noon, look at how quickly the skies clear. so it is the opposite. sunshine and clearing skies, locally breezy after the morning showers clear with upper 50s to mid-60s for highs today. one more chance of showers this week and most of that is in the north bay. another relatively weak weather system and temperatures start to climb and we could see temperatures as close to 70 by friday as high pressure builds in for most of the upcoming week. >> wow, that is nice. but, boy, that is weird. >> for this time of the year it is warm. >> rob, thank you so much. >>> we begin with a story we first

meteorologist rob mayeda is in for vianey with a look at our forecast.saw some showers in the city. we've seen some rain heading east earlier this morning. you were informing me of the patterns. >> and we had some decent rain from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. and trying clear but still drizzle. so here is another view from emeryville toward san francisco. where from now we're away from the widespread rain. just the spotty showers, the cloudy skies lingering through the morning. but as you saw in the picture around san jose, that will be the trend as we go through the afternoon. so the shower chances should be done by around noon today and then as the wind picks up out of the west northwest we get clearing skies and move from the mid-50s we're seeing now to upper 50s to near 60 around the bay and low to mid-60s closer to san jose. and actually the seven-day forecast is getting quite warm. we could be seeing temperatures close to 70. toward the end of the week, we'll have a closer look at that and what it could main for the rain chances coming up in about 15 min
