meteorologist vianey arana joins us with a quick check of our microclimate forecast and that includes rain on the way for tomorrow. hey, vianey. >> hey there, kira. yeah, this is sort of a calm before the storm, right? we're going to be seeing great conditions today. notice the regional temperatures right now pretty good for san francisco 50s, pretty normal for this time of year. we have enjoyed some comfortable weather, but as we head into tomorrow, that is all going to change. if we advance to the next graphic we can see the a chance of seeing widespread rain, something that is not very normal for the month of september, and with that, we could even see anywhere from about a tenth of an inch to possibly a quarter, maybe even a half an inch. so it will be interesting to see the timing of this, how much rain we're going to get and the temperatures and the wind impacts heading into tomorrow. i'll have that coming up in just a few minutes. kira, i'll go ahead and send it over back to you. >> all right, vianey, thanks. many are looking forward to that rain tomorrow, but others are rushin

meteorologist vianey arana joins us with a peek at your micro climate forecast. beautiful shot.really beautiful shot of lake tahoe. the reason i'm starting with this shot is because we are monitoring rain up in the sierra within the next couple days. this could impact your commute if you had plans to travel up there. i know it's the weekend. it's been interesting this week when it comes to the weather. 45 degrees in lake tahoe. temperatures here locally are also feeling a lot cooler with the marine layer around the coast. look at this impact down through southern california. post tropical storm kay is really bringing some rain. now, we're going to monitor to see how the outer bands impact the bay area. a lot of the rain right now seems to be sticking to monterrey county, however, we could see the influence of shower activity, thunderstorms activity heading into this evening and tomorrow. then heading into the weekend -- we are in the weekend. sunday and monday, weekdays, we could also see rain up in the sierra. i'll go into more detail on the impacts of that and the air quality

vianey arana is tracking when it's expected to taper off. >> we've got the last of the shower activity the bay area. we woke up to showers and there is still the possibility that we could see a spotty thunderstorm or two, mainly around the coast and up through parts of the north bay, daytime highs today will be in the 70s. livermore, 78 degrees, concord, 79, down through morgan hills, 78 degrees and once that rain moves out, heading into thursday and friday, we're going to warm up with a system that moves in as high pressure begins to build. we'll see those daytime highs climb into the upper 70s on saturday with a high of 77 degrees for san francisco. meanwhile, inland areas climb into the mid 80s. for tomorrow, it is the first official day of fall. >> vianey, thank you. >>> developing now, oakland police have their hands full after a deadly 24 hours ending with someone shot dead near city hall. >> he was in office and it looked like one hand just got shot. >> you see right there, that shooting actually interrupted a city council meeting. forced council members to call a recess. also m

. >>> so let's check in with meteorologist vianey arana for a look at the weather this morning. >> youat we're looking for over the next couple of hours. it's about 63 degrees in san jose, but you can already see all of the activity right now happening on storm ranger. our mobile doppler radar. we have some rain pushing through san francisco, half moon bay, a little break from the rain for san jose right now. that puts us up further north. you can see all of the incoming rain that's beginning to push into parts of healdsburg, santa rosa, on deck, petaluma, and areas north of the golden gate bridge, we'll see plenty of that rain. we're also seeing some pretty good cells coming down already, right now in the santa cruz area, down through monterrey. take a look at that. and in through san mateo. here's a wider look at satellite radar, and all of the incoming rain that will still be pushing through over the next couple of hours. in addition to that rain, we're also monitoring the increasing wind. and these winds are going to increase from the south, 15 to 35 miles per hour. we've also got

vianey arana joins us with your microclimate forecast. it is going to be a hot one. >> tracking the heat, talking about the fire and the air quality nearby, and what to expect on this long weekend. great shot of san jose. you can see the orange glow there. there is a spare the air warning in effect. temperatures starting in the 60s. mid 60s in some areas, but it is going to get hotter. as far as the spare the air alert, expect it to remain in place. this is going to be a mix of poor air quality because of the high pressure that will continue to build over the weekend. also drifting smoke from the nearby fires, that's going to cause an area of concern. could create pockets of unhealthy air quality. heat watches and warnings will be in effect for the entire weekend through labor day monday. we're looking at the smoke from the impact of the nearby fires. if you notice, near surface smoke goes from hazy to unhealthy, especially near the areas where the fires are actively burning. for more continuing coverage on that, let's send things over to
