things picked up after the virginia tech massacre in 2007, followed by northern illinois. the gun lobby started to introduce legislation in a number of states across the country that would change the laws. the laws were that concealed weapons were prohibited by statute on campus or schools can make their own decisions as to the policies, and those laws started to be attacked over the last several years. 2004, you utah in have had one state per year change their laws, for bidding guns on campus or taking that away from schools, the process to decide their policy, and allowing campuses to have guns. now we have 11 states that now allow weapons on campus. we will bemoment, asking viewers whether they support or oppose allowing guns on college campuses. but can you tell us why you oppose having weapons on campus? guest: sure. there are several reasons. campus environments are usually much safer environments than their off-campus counterparts. on-campus crime rates that are compiled, those rates are much lower than off-campus. so you do not have to be armed to protect yourself
