palm beach county, nicole, what is happening there and what are folks anticipating? >> john, sandra, good afternoon. you can see the strong wind gusts that are already impacting parts of the west, several hours ahead of the projected landfall. more than 50 counties across the sunshine state are under either a tropical storm or a hurricane warning. but here in palm beach county, evacuation orders are in place, schools are closed and shelters are open for the thousands of evacuees that are leaving some of the worst areas that could see some of the strongest impacts. we are talking the barrier islands, low-lying areas and really mobile homes that county officials say are not a safe place to be as the storm starts to make landfall. of course, other several impacts we are watching beyond the winds and the rain here, which is storm surge, coastal flooding and erosion. roads near the water have started to flood. a big challenge for the evacuees trying to head inland and the wind gusts, these possibly hurricane strength wind gusts are sending boats crashing into piers, some are breaking free and barrelling into open waters. hundreds are without power. florida, however, is ready to get
