at one time the entire freeway in the westbound direction was shut down. you can see one car is still sideways in several emergency vehicles are on the scene. this is westbound 880 right before ashby. again, all the lanes were open -- or closed at one point. now people are getting through. the only good news here is now that they have opened the lanes it is early enough the traffic is beginning to get a little bit better in the area. you will see now that even though some of these lanes are closed people are getting through. eastbound on the right is not affected. let's look at some of the other commutes. this is the livermore valley commutes and you can see a little bit of slow traffic on the 580 westbound 205 as the tracy super commute but it looks better once you make it into livermore and dublin and all the way to castro valley. at the bay bridge toll plaza it is lightly traveled so far driving into san francisco. let's go back to the desk. >>> the road between interstate 80 and highway 80 in oakland is open again after a fiery crash out there. our tow

westbound 580 near san ramon has an overturned vehicle.e i said we don't see a backup yet. it is beginning on 580 westbound heading toward 680 and beyond. the overturned vehicle has the firefight -- has firefighters on the scene now. all the way down to the crash we have it is adding extra traffic. usually not this slow this early, but this morning it is. san mateo bridge traffic moderately heavy heading to the peninsula. 280 san jose traffic is okay and so is a silicon valley commute. at the bay bridge toll plaza it is backed up for 15 minutes. let's go back to the desk. >>> later today governor jerry brown will give us an update on the california wildfires. that includes a third wildfire in mendocino county called the eel fire. it started late yesterday afternoon and is burning 865 acres near the mendocino national park. it is 0% contained. 60 homes have already been evacuated. >> it was pretty hairy. almost like a war zone. the plains were coming in acres, destroyed 10 buildings, including seven homes . the ktvu will bring you governor

possibly three along westbound 80 at the eastshore freeway. so if you are heading in that direction, we have speeds in the red. and dipping below 5 miles per hour between san pablo dam road and central avenue so you will be in for a long ride if you are heading out of hercules or from highway 4. normally it's less than 20 minutes after this hour and right now we are getting a travel time of 35 minutes. so you will need to give yourself some extra time heading out the door. hopefully caltrans will have all that wrapped up soon and things will go back into the green. we'll keep our fingers crossed. once you get over to the bay bridge toll plaza, looking good. no metering lights just yet. >> reporter: happening today california lawmakers will consider a proposal that would allow bart to fast track its own high density housing developments. and anne makovec is here with more. >>> reporter: almost everybody can agree that we need more housing here in the bay area. and putting it by bart stations would also cut down on traffic. but there are a lot o

at least three vehicles are involved and traffic is really backed up in the westbound direction. take a look at a map here to show you where it happened in fairfield at eric? >> reporter: and reggie, this is the most obvious consequence of the accident you've been talking about. it's a three vehicle accident. about a mile east of the north texas exit is completely backed up. this isn't even the halfway point of the backup. this is because they're narrowing the four lanes down to one lane. three vehicles involved. one of them was an suv. it has been completely mangled. another a large pickup truck. and then there was the motorcycle that was being ridden by that chp officer. out on the scanner it went to other units his motorcycle had been hit and he'd been thrown over the guardrail. that chp officer is seriously injured. we don't have an exact condition report on him yet, but we do know he was taken to north bay medical center in fairfield. let's show you some of that right nu. a lot of law enforcement there right now showing you the seriousness of this incident. chp, fairfield po
