claudine wong joins us live from the scene.t looks like the orders are being ignored. >> reporter: the protesters say they are staying, they are keeping their tents here. they consider it free speech, part of their movement to stay in front of this administration building here at sproul plaza. there are more than a dozen spent tents that are up along the steps here in front of sproul hall. you can see people taking their time sitting -- i talked to protesters out here who say look, they thought sometime in the night police would come in and clear out their tents. that did not happen despite repeated warnings from police that they either had to leave or they could face arrest. i talked to one protester about how he feels about making it through the night. he insists he's not going anywhere. >> we start to worry when they put on riot gear and gas masks because that means they are gonna tear gas students protesting. the violence the police have used is inexcusable. it's not that they are bad people. they are being told to do bad t

ktvu's claudine wong has been on the scene all morning and joins us now live. so are things fairly quiet there, claudine? >> reporter: they are. in the last 10 minutes the police line moved back to allow people through the plaza. but they're still blocking the steps, this area here. they're still trying to clean it up. they've cleared away several tents and different items from this plaza, couple pianos and couches and now this group of protestors is waiting to get back on the plaza. they tried to get there before but police told them they could not go on. you're still waiting to get up there? and do you -- you'll be allowed to get up there? >> i don't care, like not at all. they say a lot of things and they don't really rule and through. so i mean, we'll see. >> okay. all right. thank you. this raid happened about 3:30 this morning, so we've been here for hours. we have obtained this from a student protestor who was sleeping in one of tents. when the police came in and gave them a five-minute dispersal order, he picked up his camera and started rolling. it mov

ktvu's claudine wong joins us live with more on this story. claudine? of these five accidents. five in the last five days. three people are dead. two are fighting for their lives. san jose police tell me this morning that the investigations are ongoing but they are warning people this morning, just everyone to be careful on the road. >> each individual case separately. there's no relation -- indication they are related to one another in any way. but this is the opportunity for us to remind everyone to be mindful of pedestrians, bicyclists and everyone else that shares the road. >> reporter: there were three accidents just last night. one happened at 6:46. a 54-year-old man was crossing the road when he was hit. seven minutes later, also on tally road, a 44-year-old cyclist was hit. both of those victims are fighting for their lives this morning. a few minutes before the accidents there was also a fatal accident on jackson. i want to show you video from the scene where you could still see the remnants from flairs on -- flares on the ground. a 67-year-old
