we're talking about this information coming from dekalb county chairman.an active shooter at mcnar elementary school. wsb reporting they had seen that dozens of teachers an students who evacuated the building raced out of the building and that according to wsb that there were people, officers who were swept into the school to figure out what's going on and they had one suspect in custody. at least according to the local affiliates that they do have one person who is in custody. now, the chairman says that there are been reports of shots fired. the gun plan has not been located. we have a number of vantsage points here. one from news chopper two showing the children were running from the building earlier today as well as some of the adults. the teachers that were there. this is the ronald e. mcnair discovery learning academy. it's a charter school. it's located in decatur, georgia. there was one person that has already been taken into custody. what we're watching is a scene out of decatur, georgia. this is an elementary school. several reports of shots fire

these people started rolling their cameras when they should have done something else in dekalb county, georgia. >> right now the cops are banging on the door. it's about 1:30 in the morning. >> they did have an arrest warrant which allowed to deputies to come to the door and say open up. the deputies said call 911. the boy shooting the video and calling 911 were claiming the cops were shouting the wrong address. >> there are a bunch of cops outside my house. they're scream for 663. >> you can tell the guy is really scared. you can hear it in his voice. >> you're hearing one of two sons that are in the house, ages 23 and 20. they have their mom in the house whom the sheriff's deputys were looking for with the arrest warrant. the mother indicates she has a history with police agencies in the town but not with the dekalb county sheriff's office, which is involved in this incident. >> this is retaliation against me. it's just a big farce. >> right before they open the door the mom breaks down. >> i haven't done anything. >> mom. >> but the boys do stay calm. >> the mom was arrested for co

it's in dekalb county, just outside the atlanta area. the students there started back from their summer break a week ago yesterday. here is the image that we are all watching right now. i can't stress enough how thankful everyone is that there are no injuries reported. but this all brings into perspective the conversation, the ongoing conversation about school safety, who has access to these students, who's able to get inside of the school, and in this circumstance, the individual who reportedly was able to get near or inside the school and who was armed at the time. you see what appears to be, if you look closely at your screen, some emergency vehicles in this huge parking lot and a number of school buses right now. this is the area where the school -- the students had been taken for their safety as the school was evacuated. we can imagine authorities are inside right now making sure that it is truly an all clear despite the report that one individual, one suspect has been taken into custody. you see a lot of activity. you can imagine t

dekalb county police say the suspect, identified as michael brandon hill, held one or two staff memberse front office captive. as officers swarmed the campus outside, hill shot at them at least half a dozen times with an assault rifle and they returned fire. hill then surrendered and faces several charges. an elementary school bookkeeper says she worked to convince hill to put down his weapons. antoinette tuff said that hill told her he was sorry, but that he was willing to die. >> two teenage boys have been charged with first degree murder in the random killing of an australian college baseball player. a third boy has been charged as an accessory. police say the three teens in oklahoma decided to kill somebody because they were bored. 15-year-old james edwards, junior, and 16-year-old chancey luna now face first-degree murder charges. michael jones is being charged as an accessory after the fact. their target was 23-year-old christopher lane from australia. he was on scholarship to play baseball at east central university. family and friends describe lane as the kind of man you want yo
