. >> news 4's justin finch is live there with a look at what's next. justin, good morning. >> reporter: aaron, good morning. fire crews still on scene. you can see them dousing hot spots. they're hoping to get a glimpse of that building, see how much of it is damaged by this fire and what may have caused it. chopper 4 was over the fire showing from the roof of the huge 47 unit complex. this is a mixed use building, retail on the bottom and apartments above. it is now mostly unoccupied. now fire reports came in about 9:30 yesterday morning and by 3:00 p.m. monday that fire was mostly under control. the fire crews were other districts. some 200 firefighters in all. with the building still under control, the fire was able to travel causing heavy smoke conditions outside. that forced the university to cancel classes at 1:00 p.m. yesterday. in the area we are told the air was described as unbearable. >> my whole house was consumed with smoke. i mean, it's unbearable. i have to leave. >> reporter: and back out live you are still seeing that cherry picker up d

news 4's justin finch is live where trains just started running a few minutes ago. justin, what are you seeing? >> eun, as a matter of fact a train just left here a short time ago. so far we know metro received some 500 plus sick or absentee requests for today. we know all so far have been denied. on the off chance that workers don't show up for work today, metro is rolling out these 123 coverage. this morning at the new carrollton station we did see metro workers showing up for work. seemed pretty normal. so for now it's seemingly back to work with the largest union locked in negotiation talks. now some union members demonstrated during a metro hearing on thursday before turning their backs on general manager paul wiedefeld. a show of displeasure with the contract and sick leaf policy, lack of raises and benefits cuts. >> a fair contract that wouldn't hurt our family or our community. >> any time you are in a ask contract negotiation, it can be tough. unfortunately i think we have some issues here that i addressed. it plays out the way it plays out. >> reporter: bac

dao news 4's justin finch is live at ragan national airport with a breakdown. justin, good morning. >> reporter: eun, good morning. these changes are so new that united passengers we met this morning had no idea they were even made. looking now at the viral video that began it all. chicago police removing dr. david dao from that united flight back on april 9th. dao was aggressively removed after refusing to give up his seat on the full flight. after weeks of criticism, now an about face. united rolling out ten changes to its customer relations procedures including reining in the use of security. passengers will no longer have to give up their seats unless security or safety warrants so. the airline will also offer up to $10,000 to passengers who surrender seats on full flights. they'll also work to reduce overbooking. all are welcome changes to united passengers we met this morning. unfortunate. i think they are making some positive changes. i think for customers a few of those changes to see those wholly are going to take some time. >> reporter: now some change

news4's justin finch explains what they're looking for right now. >> reporter: today army investigatorsll begin their investigation probing through factors to determine why that black hawk took off from fort belvoir only to crash in southern maryland. what was tleft of the uh-60 was in pieces. this video shows the helicopter at the breton bay golf course. it was a training flight. the army officials are now saying it ended with a crash after 1:30 p.m. monday, and in a group of other helicopters, witnesses recall that black hawk standing out. they say it was flying low, began losing control before ultimately crashing to the ground. >> we were sitting down on center 40 circle and we watched the helicopter come by, sitting very low, and my brother made a comment, look how low it is. i said, oh, my god, it's going sideways. then it started to go backwards and it went down. >> reporter: threere were on board. one died on the scene. two others were taken to a trauma center. officials say their names will be released once their families are notified. i'm justin finch, news4. >>> in montgomery
