also are the on-island shuttles, there is two networks of on-island shuttles, one that goes to the east side neighborhood and one to the city side neighborhood. then if you remember from the master plan days, we developed sort of a range of street types. so we categoryized these into different families, based on the location they were in. certain streets would be designed one way because they're in a neighborhood, others different because they're in the retail or downtown part of the island. so i'm going to walk you through as a refresher these different street types and get into the open space characters. so clipper cove which is along the retail block of this portion, you can see here, it's one of the waterfront streets. at this location it's of the intermodal transit loop. you notice this street section is a little wider on clipper cove and adjacent is the promenade. and then as you move forward east on the island, that road gets narrow. because you don't have the same buses that are looping around. so you can see that this section gets more narrow, but then you also have the promenade ad

selma had at that point been protected by a series of continuous earth works that stretched from the east side of selma near beach creek in an arc about 3 1/2 miles around to the west side of the city to the bank of the alabama river near valley creek. it was defended on the south side by the river, unapproachable by that way but general forrest was forced to defend the town with a cobbled together group. he only had 1500 men who were dependable troops. then you had militia and state troops, convalescents and he even pressed private citizens into service so general forrest did not have his normal complement of men in which to defend selma whereas general wilson had 9,000 battle hardened troopers equipped with the spencer rifle which allowed them to fire seven shots without reloading whereas the confederates had muzzle loaders so they were at a distinct disadvantage to federal troopers. the battle of selma was a short, intense affair. as wilson's men had come down from the north to selma, they were attacking the city from the north and essentially on the north and east and north and west sides.

the last three weeks have had this pattern with the lows on either side of the state, one on the east side on the west side, the air rises and we are getting thunderstorms in the mountains, fog and drizzle around here those two lows will hang out through friday and friday will be the coldest day of the week. these are the highs from today from this unusual pressure pattern, this is how it will be tomorrow. it may be -- i think it will be a little bit cooler tomorrow by degree or two but there is a low rate here, it's not easy to pick out right now but there is a lower rate here essentially over here. they just lift up the atmosphere and weaken the high pressure. look at the push of load -- low clouds and fog. it may get over to berkeley or livermore valley look where it is, it's up on his way over by the delta that is where it will end up tomorrow morning it will be up there in sacramento, there will be a low class, i would not call it fog but it is a cool star, there is san jose temperatures there are in the low 50s there is the cloud footprint all bay area counties have something by lunc

another fire on the east side today on south capitol avenue near story road at a building that houses the california teachers association. this was reported aabout 2 a.m. there are no reports of any injuries. nothing to indicate anybody was inside at the time. no word on a possible cause. >>> nearly 10 different brush fires sparked in the bay area yesterday. officials say now they have combined to form one large blaze. they bronc out yesterday afternoon near byron -- they broke out yesterday afternoon near byron highway. jessica flores reports. >>> we're in byron right now and i can tell you that the fires being fueled by wind and all of this brush. we do see some smoke around smoldering in the distance from where we're standing off byron highway here but no flames from our point. take a look at what chopper got yesterday. you can see the massive flames, 500 acres burned about 7 fires throughout this area. this is altamont area. and we actually saw several, um, burned-out fields. so it appears that a lot of the fires actually put out right now. fire crews say that at least 35% contain
