democrat progressives and moderates. given that and almost total republican opposition, can you see joe biden getting a meaningful amount through congresshis agenda? >> throughout this process, i believed in the end, something will pass. probably not $3.5 trillion. but something very significant, because it is the -- it is in the interest of all democrats to pass something. they're all better off if something happens if the whole thing collapses. i think that's being called into question a little bit now in the case of the senator from arizona, kyrsten sinema, who is so aggressively positioning herself against the party in the way this is unfolding. you can imagine how it might possibly -- she might decide it is in her interest to sink the whole thing. but on balance, it seems in the end, democrats would be better off than doing something than not. and therefore, logic would assume they'll find a way through this. >> and while the democrats have their internal issues, it can't be left unsaid that there's pretty much no republican support for the larger bill, which are broadly popular with the democrats claim is paid for. what is the pol

if you look even just among democrats, the president knows this is going to be democrats alone here when the votes in congress happen. but look, 75% of democrats still want to go bold. they want it all, all those safety net proposals, pre-k, free community college, more climate change. 75% say go bold, 20% say fewer proposals and 4% say don't pass the bill. you could go into the meeting with the centrists and say the rest of the party wants to go bold. but there are some contradictions in our polling, if you will. who is doing more to help the democratic party right now? 49% say the progressives who want that big, bold agenda are doing more. but 51% say moderate, so the democratic party is evenly split on which side of the party, which pieces of the party best represent their views right now. so go bold but listen to the moderates is a bit of a conflict here. here is the biggest challenge for the president and his party right now. they are failing to sell this agenda to the american people in terms of how it would change your day-to-day life. only 25% of americans, one in four, think if the democrats pass thi

congress did so on a bipartisan basis. this includes three times under the last administration, when democrats cooperated in order to protect the economy from catastrophe. i want to remind that when president obama was president and the republican majority in the congress was threatening to not lift the debt limit, just the threat of that had an impact on our credit rating. our credit rating went down. the mere discussion of not lifting the debt limit had a negative impact on our credit rating. don't you care about that? it's sad that republican obstruction has delayed action for so long. and it's sad they will not join us for a longer term suspension. the full faith and credit of the united states must never be questioned and the financial security of families must never be gambled with. as our republicans -- republican colleagues seem to be doing. even though as mr. hoyer mentioned mr. mcconnell at one point was saying -- playing russian roulette with the economy. russian roulette for moscow mitch, interesting. democrats are for the people and i urge a strong bipartisan vote for this legislation and for protecting the eco
