east bay. it's a few low 80s from walnut creek over toward antioch. while mostly in the upper 70s for the tri-valley and danville today, up to 79 degrees 73 will be the high in oakland. really nice and comfortable as well for the peninsula, with some low to mid 70s and upper 60s in san francisco once again. today we may see a little bit more sunshine at least the start. and then looking at our highs in the north bay, 82 in santa rosa and 79 in sonoma, and then ahead we've been watching this rain talking a lot about it. even though unfortunately a lot of the rain just kind of skips around us. and we'll head mostly toward the sierra. but there will be that chance through the morning commute tomorrow that we could see at least some light spotty showers moving through, but it looks like parts of the north bay see the sees the rain at about 8 to 9:00 and then possibly in the east bay before lunchtime, and then the rest of the day. it's already clearing out. so our rain model shows that we're going t

just trying to make it in the bay in daly city, ginger conejero saab today in the bay.ery much so. thank you ginger. well, new at 6:00. oakland keeping technology around that is aimed at combating violence. last night, city leaders approved a new contract for its shotspotter technology. as a result, it will remain in oakland through at least september. shotspotter uses sensors to detect gunshots. the information is then sent to oakland police. well, turning now to decision 2024. early voting underway in ten states from coast to coast. record in-person turnout happening in georgia, which is a swing state. 300,000 people already casting their ballots on day one of early voting. now, casting ballots before election day is something both candidates are encouraging today in the bay's alice barr live in washington. this morning with us. and this comes as those candidates continue their crisscross across their crisscross across the nation, marcus. and as they're trying to get the message out, both nominees are going to be appearing on fox news today for vice president harris.

half moon bay.is three degrees cooler in san jose at 68 this morning and a few degrees cooler up in the north bay. santa rosa is at 5960 in napa. and looking at our wind flow today, this really tells the story as well. the winds kicking up along the coast will be moving faster, 20 to 25 miles an hour by the afternoon and a bit of a breeze getting inside the bay. taking it further into your tuesday where the winds will be up to 30 miles an hour and we really will begin to see the temperatures near average, then below average. so today in the south bay, 94, in san jose, day eight of our heat wave, 93 in milpitas. not as hot today on the peninsula. definitely feeling a bit better throughout the afternoon with low to mid 80s. san mateo about 90. in redwood city. it's been in the upper 90s to near 100 there the past several days. 84 downtown. looking at those upper 70s in the sunset and in the north bay. and it really is going to be another scorcher for you. where temperatures will be at or near 100, but

widespread throughout the bay from san francisco, across the bay bridge over into oakland. upper 60s expected today off into the east bay where we were just in the 70s yesterday with sunny skies. now we're starting to see those clouds roll in later and later into the evening hours tonight as we gear up for more showers into the overnight hours. now that's going to start up in the north bay. the system is actually meant for the pacific northwest. they're getting the heavy bulk of the showers. however, we're getting the leftovers for what it's worth, we're seeing about 100th of an inch of rain all the way up into the north bay and off into the east bay, into the overnight hours tonight, here's what it's looking like by early morning hours tomorrow if you're an early riser, well, you might be using those windshield wipers, but that's just around 4 a.m. throughout most of the bay area. we clear up fast as we head into the afternoon hours tomorrow. still some light scattered showers and some unsettled weather in the forecast up in the north bay as we head into the evening hours

this includes the north bay, south bay, east bay and even the city of san francisco inland areas here like walnut creek could reach up to 110 degrees while other areas along the coast reaching 95 degrees. officials do want to remind people you want to remember those basic summer practice is staying in the shade wearing loose clothing, drinking water and never leaving any people or pets in the car. now outdoor workers athlete who should be wearing that sunscreen, of course, drinking water and taking breaks when you can. now, if you're feeling dizzy thursday, weak and nauseous while sweating a lot. you're probably having heat exhaustion at that point. you need to take a break. get in the shade, drink some water. if you're feeling dizzy, confused like you may lose consciousness. well, that is a heat stroke and you need to call 9-1-1, immediately. so back out here live, the pull just opened about maybe 30, 40 minutes ago. we're going to chat with some of the coaches hear of asterix place. what he tells his swimmers to do during the heat because, of course, a lot of people are heading over

well, 707, is the time in the east bay. elsewhere, we have to bart station is back open this morning after someone died from a medical emergency. >> we first brought you this story last night. bart officials closed the fruitvale in lake merritt stations at about 09:00pm as they were responding to that emergency. you can see people being evacuated. well, now we're learning a corner had to be called to the fruitvale station. and as a result, power had to be cut at the lake merritt station because of what was going on over there. true bill bart officials say both the fruitvale and lake merritt stations are running. normally this morning. we're going to keep you updated on that death investigation. as we learn more. well, a man is in jail this morning after police say he sexually assaulted children in concord. police say 47 year-old emilio martinez, alec, on is charged with a great ag riveted assault of a child and lewd acts on a child. he's in jail right now on 11 million dollars bail. police are asking if there any other poss

our coverage continues with today in the bay bob redell, who is live in the east bay. and bob, it's been hot even during the early morning hours. how are folks cooling off? well, it's actually pretty nice right now in dublin. i will say that i feel like it's high 60s. so it's mild, but it is going to hit the triple digits in our 30 degrees later today, which is good news because we've had triple digits yesterday and the day before out here in the tri-valley. as vianey was mentioning, national weather service has downgraded its excessive heat warning to an advisory until 11:00 tonight. so again, the headline is we're not going to see the triple digits necessarily here in the tri-valley just to high 90s. so it's going to still be hot. this was the scene yesterday in pacifica along the coastline, where many people hit the beach to escape the inland areas, which experienced those triple digit temps on sunday. you can see the beach was pretty crowded and this is from the south bay, where yesterday, willow glen high school moved their football games to the morning to avoid t

record breaking heat across the bay area.ome cities hitting temperatures not seen in nearly 100 years. here are just some of the records here in santa rosa. yesterday, a high of 102 degrees. that hasn't happened since 1930. san francisco also breaking records. if you see yellow, that means you're in trouble there. exactly. let's check in with chief meteorologist jeff ranier. records just continuing to break. we've had a streak of this, jeff. eight days now of this heat. we're ready to see i. get out of here. and as we take a look at those temperatures today, some of the hottest coming in right here in gilroy, 103, 102 in concord. santa rosa, 101. redwood city, also at 99. and the official records have now come in, and we have set one here in concord with that 102, also a new one here in livermore tying it. santa rosa a new record. san jose, a new record. and we got close in san francisco with 92. the record that still remains is 98, which was back in 1996. but all in all, as we have been talking about, this heat wave has gone

bay. police say it was a result of a road rage spree carried out by one angry driver. one person died in the crash just after 2:00 saturday afternoon at rohnert park expressway and stony point road. investigators say a driver rammed another car from behind, pushing it into oncoming traffic, and a woman in the passenger seat of that car that got pushed died. two others, the driver and a child. both suffered major injuries. investigators arrested the suspect a short time after the crash. they say he's responsible for at least one and possibly three similar road rage incidents earlier in the day. >> fans at the 40 niners game endured record breaking temperatures yesterday in santa clara. the national weather service reports it hit 99 degrees by halftime. that's the hottest ever regular season game at levi's stadium. some fans took pictures with thermometers showing temperatures of 105 degrees or hotter. now, despite the heat, many of the faithful were still enthusiastic. >> i mean, i think yo

you can see clear across the bay there with the bay bridge in the distance and the east bay hills, santaaluma and napa in the low 90s. but then check out fairfield, concord and livermore still above 100 degrees right now, and the winds are cooling things down a little bit at the beaches like half moon bay. notice a kind of northwest flow so that sea breeze is bringing some temperatures down. and so some areas have come down by a few degrees, but with high pressure in place, it's keeping all the clouds away. so we're going to be dealing with hot weather for at least the next few days. if you want to avoid some of that heat, you may want to head to the beach, especially this weekend. so tomorrow, slightly cooler temperatures coming down by another 2 to 8 degrees, but it's still going to be hot and then this weekend, actually temperatures will bounce up a little bit on saturday. so the heat wave continues really it's not until next week that heat relief finally arrives, especially for inland areas. so with that, the excessive heat warning has been extended through tomorrow. the areas in hot
