meteorologist, adam joseph, is continuing to track hurricane hermine. how it can effect our holiday weekend when we come right back. >>> you have to get out and enjoy over the weekend, a couple of showers passing through the shore communities now a pop-up through trenton and mercer county. we head to the shore ahead of a cold front this downpour pushes towards atlantic city where people are on the sand for the zach brown band, they will get briefly wet and the heaviest stuff moving towards ventnor and ocean city and no lightning with it. as we head to the north a round of heavy downpours pressing through portions of ocean county and heading towards burlington county and clipping the northern part of long beach island and continue to long beach island as well. temperatures upper 70s to around 80 degrees, the heat wave is over and still humid presently but the northerly wind is drying us out overnight as it turns more comfortable. the front is off to the west and we see ripping of the clouds north of philadelphia and that trend continues tonight as we sta

lets check in with adam joseph. >> brand new information from the hurricane center, our coastline in new jersey as well address the delaware beachs under a tropical storm watch for the upcoming weekend, meaning the potential is there for tropical storm conditions from seaside heights to rehoboth beach in delaware. as we look at the latest with the hurricane hermine on stormtracker 6 live double scan you see the center of the storm winding up and an eye is beginning to develop in the center of hermine, it continues to deepen and strengthen with wins sustained at 75 miles per hour. the eye of the storm is where you get clear air and it's right around the eye is where you have the most intense wind and rain and you get tornadoes on the northeast side of the storm. this to be the very first hurricane to make landfall in the state of florida in 11 years. there you see the rain brands, intense bands pivoting in around the storm as it heads towards florida and expected to make landfall later on tonight. it's 85 south of apalachicola at the latest hour expected to make landfall at 10:00, 11:

adam joseph standing outside with rest of the story. hey, adam. >> we're heating things up, especially after what you could call one of the most beautiful stretches of the summer season when you take look at the temperatures and the dew points, in fact. in philadelphia, thursday was just 81 degrees, below average. 45, 83. 79 on saturday. 82 on sunday. we started a warm-up yesterday to 86 degrees. and presently right now, we're also at 86, though. we topped off so far at 88 in philadelphia. 90 in wilmington. 88 in reading and that north. northwesterly wind at the shore. temperatures a bit cooler as the sea breeze is trying to take effect but also what's happening there is we have a lot of clouds scraping the coastline, holding those numbers back. and it's all because of hermine, which, as you can see, it continues to drift to the west and now the clouds aring bag into philadelphia and rain is almost scraping the coastline because of hermine. in fact, this is one of the leading bands, the western side of hermine, that continues to pivot in

let's check in now with meteorologist adam joseph at the big board with the details. hi adam. >> it was a beautiful sight to see this much needed rain not only for us locally here in the delaware and lehigh valleys but all of the major cities along the eastern seaboard especially in boston southern new england where they have been dealing with an extreme drought after a very dry hot summer. the boundary still draped just off of our coastline and pushing back into eastern virginia and north carolina. so most of the heavy rain has now pushed off the coast and we just have some lingering light showers in parts of southern new jersey and delaware. really it's just patchy at this point but again you can see the heaviest rain well off the coast and this is heading to the north and to the east so it's not backing in but there's an area to the south that we'll watch that may try to once again clip southern parts of new jersey overnight tonight and southern parts of delaware. there's no flood warnings but there's a flood advisory until 4:30 this evening so for less than a half

tropical conditions and at the coast we will see the worst of the storm and bring in metrologist adam josephe latest on that. not flooding because of a driving rain which you typically get with tropical-type features it's the storm surge and the rounds of high tide with this. dangerous flooding due to waves near 15 feet that will really start to swell up as we get into sunday and monday and a storm surge now expected 3-5 feet above the ground meaning standing at the water's end expect a rise in that water by 3-5 feet during the times of high tide. right now this is showing the circulation with the wave heights, again didn't look bad today and chop but not terrific and that is 30 foot swells starting to develop and pivots to the west and the wall of water as the storm moves to the north and west will move with it and what is when the worst of the flooding is expected. so minor flooding with the present high tide right now. sunday morning it goes to moderate, 10-11 but the two high tides of major concern with major flooding will be on sunday night 10-11 p.m. monday morning 10:30 to 11:30 and b

let's go over to meteorologist adam joseph in for cecily live at the big board for a first check of our accuweather forecast. hi, adam. >> the number just came out officially at 5:00, 90 degrees in philadelphia, so, yes, heat wave number seven has just begun at the 5:00 hour. it's a bit cooler to the north, binghamton, new york city in the lower 80s. but washington, 93. 91, charleston, west virginia. roanoke also 91. pittsburgh down to 83 because of some downpours and storms that passed through. but they are oppressively humid. and you can see the darker greens are lurking just to our south and west of those dew points surpassing 70 degrees. still not terribly humid. it's slightly humid here in philadelphia of 62, and it's all because of hermine that's kept the humidity down on the western side of the storm, but now, as that heads to the east, all of this warm and uncomfortable air, i should say, will be rushing in overnight tonight and throughout your thursday. so we had some showers that were scraping the dostline -- coastline with some rising air near hermine. we had sinking air here

heading outside now to meteorologist adam joseph to find out just how hot it's going to get. and schools taking precautions, adam, huh? >> for sure. when you step out here, you can see, it feels like a steam bath out here. you don't have to do very much to instantly sweat. and the body can overheat very quickly. in fact, we have the september scorcher. so far 95 degrees in the city of philadelphia with a heat index at 103. that's where it peaked just an hour ago. this is the 43rd time we've seen 90 degrees or more in the city of philadelphia. and today, so far, one degree shy of the record. we're sitting at 92 right now in the city. 93 in allentown. 94, trenton, reading, lancaster, and a sea breeze at the shore feeling a whole lot let better there in low 80s. but you factor in that tropical humidity and it feels at or over 100 degrees and most locations just shy of it for wilmington, reading as well as the lehigh valley at 98. there's a front far to the north with some downpours and thunderstorms. the front is slowly pushing this from the north to the southeast, but it's going

meteorologist adam joseph is in for cecily tynan tonight for the details from accuweather. adam? >> the numbers are holding strong to the very end this season. temperatures have been on the rise from where they were on sunday. they were extremely comfortable with 82 degrees and low humidity. then we bounce back above normal monday. yesterday, 88. today, topping off at 91 degrees. ten degrees above that normal. we should be close to 15 degrees above normal tomorrow. we are not the only ones dealing with the heat and the humidity. you can take a look at the eastern half of the country, which the majority had temperatures in the 90s today from wichita, dallas, new orleans, st. louis, 96. raleigh, 94 degrees. jacksonville, matching our high of 91. heat advisory goes into effect noon tomorrow and lasts through 6:00. it's the peak heating tomorrow afternoon especially the delaware valley, lehigh valley, the entire state of delaware. southern new jersey and the shore, not within the advisory. in this location, it will feel 100 or higher. in fact, future tracker temperatures here, 102 to
