joining me now, nbc news correspondent julia ainsley and executive director of care and action.naccompany the migrant children in hhs verse cbp facilities? what do you attribute this to? >> it's good news. seeing overall number of migrant children the u.s. custody rise an yourself don't like to see children in custody but are watching the numbers rise in hhs care. that care is just by miles better than the care in border patrol facilities. we know they're tested for covid-19, have access to mental health care and access to lawyers. there for the purpose of being reunited with family members or for other sponsors, with other sponsors who can take care of them. unlike border patrol custody, so crowded sometimes the children don't know if they'll have a place to lie down and go to sleep at night. a good sign the numbers are going up and because of the scramble by the biden administration to open up more of those facilities. the thing advocates don't like, in that scramble a lot don't go through the normal processing requirements and licensing requirements you would to open a more p

delaney and correspondent pete alexander and former federal prosecutor and leading contributor, alex ainsley. ken dilanian, what do we know about this investigation? >> they appear to have seized his electronic devices. as you said, this marks a major escalation in a long-running federal investigation of the former mayor of new york city and president trump's personal lawyer, because it means that the fbi and the justice department convinced a judge that there was probable cause to believe that a crime had been committed and that evidence of that crime could be found at these locations. now, giuliani's lawyer has been saying that this was what he called legal thuggery, because he said his client had offered to talk to the justice department and provide them documents. we have not been able to reach rudy giuliani or his lawyer, robert costello, but the backdrop of this, katy, is a long-run investigation that started from -- if you remember those two characters, those soviet-born men, lev parnov and igor freeman, pardon me, but we're working with rudy giuliani to dig up information about biden

nbc's julia ainsley has been following this investigation.prosecutor glenn kirschner and frank figliuzzi, who served as former assistant director for counterintelligence at the fbi. julia, explain what is all of this about? >> well, at the moment, we don't exactly know what it is giuliani's being investigated for. we do know his business associates, which were tied to his business involvement in ukraine, have been charged. so far no charges on giuliani. what's interesting, stephanie, is why now? we reported back in december for a long time prosecutors wanted to obtain these electronic communications from giuliani and they believed they had enough evidence to go ahead and request a search warrant for those materials. we were told they did not want to do that before the election for obvious reasons, the doj tradition of not wanting to violent an interference in an upcoming election. then we thought it was appearance, we thought they could execute a search warrant almost any day. now we're almost in may and that was finally carried out. so a lot
