the victim has been identified as 68-year-old paul scherer from alameda. kron 4's camila bernal has more for us this morning. witnesses told authorities they saw a car driving on derby boulevard and into the water2:24:20 the vehicle started floating north into the estuary, came in contact with a boat at a dock, became inverted and pretty quickly ended up sinking out of sight rescue swimmers arrived to the estuary between alameda and oakland just before 8:30 on sunday but it was difficult to find the car2:25:13:12 the vehicle was located in about 30 feet of water, underwater, zero visibility on the estuary so everything is by touch down there you can't see anything they used sonar devices and magnets to try to find the car but eventually had to request the help of different dive teams from around the bay area 2:31:26 we took our best shot at it and it happened the very first dive we found the car then it became about getting the man out of the car and out of the water2:25:59 the victim was brought back to the shoreline and resuscitation was immediately star

the parcel sent to a home in alameda exploded, injuring one person. it happened in the bay farm island community. nbc bay area christie smith has the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: neighbors near lilac and oleander avenue say they saw a large police response in their quiet neighborhood late friday afternoon. an unusual investigation now involving the u.s. postal service. >> on friday afternoon, a parcel was delivered to a resident in bay farm island in alameda, california. that parcel did detonate. at this point, it's an ongoing investigation. >> reporter: at this point, it's unclear how the device detonated. >> there was a confirmed explosive device. >> reporter: police dispatch audio suggests a woman living at the home opened the package and it exploded. one person suffered non life-threatening injuries. neighbors say they believe a police officer lives at the home. they are not releasing any more details but several agencies are involved in the investigation. >> alameda police department and bomb squad responded, atf responded and postal

(justine) it happened just after 8:00 this morning in alameda.s been identified as 68- year-old paul scherer from alameda.(jr stone) kron 4's camila bernal reports that dive teams from around the bay area tried to save the man's life. witnesses told authorities they saw a car driving on derby boulevard and into the water2:24:20 the vehicle started floating north into the estuary, came in contact with a boat at a dock, became inverted and pretty quickly ended up sinking out of sight rescue swimmers arrived to the estuary between alameda and oakland just before 8:30 on sunday but it was difficult to find the car2:25:13:12 the vehicle was located in about 30 feet of water, underwater, zero visibility on the estuary so everything is by touch down there you can't see anything they used sonar devices and magnets to try to find the car but eventually had to request the help of different dive teams from around the bay area 2:31:26 we took our best shot at it and it happened the very first dive we found the car then it became about getting the man out of
