alameda county customers in livermore, pleasanton, dublin, fremont, newark and union city are being asked to cut back along with those in marin county. alex savidge joins us live with more on a meeting in marin county this morning a so-called drought summit. alex joins us live with how serious the situation has become. alex? >> reporter: good afternoon. very serious. a member of the marin municipal water district told me that people in the area should prepare for mandatory water rationing soon. that's because phoenix lake which is down below us here in the county's other reservoirs are only about half full right now after one of the driest years on record. this morning the board of supervisors held a so-called drought summit which representatives from the various -- which represents various districts. county leaders are asking people to voluntary cut water use by 25%. but the situation could get even more serious as we approach the end of the water year in april. that's when a decision will have to be made on mandatory rationing. >> given how little rain there has been which is to say non
