bob redell. bob, from what we understand, this family was really saved by their fire alarm. >> they were. that's what the san jose fire department is saying. check your batteries and make sure you have a fire alarm because that's why that house right there does not have anyone inside. everyone got out okay. a smoke alarm that saved the family of nine. they were asleep upstairs in that home here on moorings caught when it caught fire downstairs in the garage. you can see the fire department right now doing some clearance pps wh when the alarm woke this family, black smoke was filling the upstairs. you can see in this video provided by the san jose fire department how lucky they were they got out. as you can see the fire engulfed the structure and the two-story home. without the alarm, this family would have been stuck in there. the fire overwhelmed the two-story home and ended up destroying the home. the fire department had a call for a second alarm bringing in more units to keep this from spreadin
