good morning, maryland, i'm charley krauss. we're is morning. let's head right over to angela now for the very latest on this accident on the harrisburg expressway. angela, what do you have? reporter: well, charley, we've got a pretty serious accident on the harrisburg expressway. this is your backup through the parkton region on southbound 83, the harrisburg expressway. your southbound lanes are shut down at belfast road in the glennco area. as a matter of fact right now we are making all cars exit at belfast road. the southbound lanes backed up, as we mentioned, solid through the parkton region. now, we got an update from maryland state police. northbound lanes are open on the harrisburg expressway, but we've got emergency response vehicles taking up a left northbound lane as you approach the accident scene. it is very, very busy in that area, and, of course, going to be very slow getting through. if you plan to travel on the harrisburg expressway, through the sparks glennco area, northbound or southbound, you may want to hop on route 45, york

. >> reporter: good morning, charley. we are here at the patterson park area at eastern and lynwood. and this morning police are continuing their investigation trying to figure out exactly who is responsible for the break-ins. right now people in the area are on high alert. they are on the lookout for anything that may be suspicious after they had a dozen break- ins since just before christmas. one block of lakewood is hit with four burglaries according to the neighborhood association. police say 16 cases have been reported in the past 28 days on lucerne clinton and east baltimore and people are aware and they are keeping an eye out for suspicious activity. folks are work closely with police. >>> we always want to be vigilant about what's going on and it's good to talk to your neighbors knowing who's going away for christmas and different weekends and things like that. and i think we got a responsibility to look out for each other. >> reporter: now people in the area that we spoke to say that crime is basically been down

over to you, charley. >>> today a baltimore county man will be sentenced for the murder of a teenager nearly three years ago. abc 2 new' sherree johnson is here with the details of that case. reporter: charley, this has been an ongoing case for nearly three years, but this morning jason gross will be sentenced for the murder of 16-year-old rochelle battle. he was convicted of second- degree murder for her death by a jury in october. the 16-year-old's family reported her missing from a baltimore city home in march of 2009. her body was never found. the investigation led to a meeting with jason gross at his home in baltimore county. pieces of her clothing that were found led to gross' arrest. now the sentencing is scheduled for 9:30 this morning before judge kathleen cox in baltimore county circuit court. sheree johnson, abc 2 news. >>> a fire in an apartment complex in glen burnie has neighbors sleeping somewhere else this morning. a cigarette is believed to be blamed for the fire that seriously damaged homes in the tall pines apartments. most of those neighbors got out safely, but a 6

we are here -- charley. we are here at north lakewood and east baltimore street in the patterson park area and this morning police are trying to figure out who is responsible for the break-ins here. as a matter of fact, it's a chance we have seen some officers patrolling the area this morning here just making sure everything is okay. and i got to tell you a lot of residents in this area are on high alert. they are on the lookout after they say about a dozen break- ins since just before christmas one block of lakewood has been hit with four burglaries according to the neighborhood association. one woman says a break-in occurred while she was in the home sleeping. people are aware right now and they say they are keeping ion out for any kind of suspicious activity. and folks are working very closely with the police. >> we always want to be vigilant about what's going on and it's goog to be talking to your neighbors. knowing who is going away for christmas and different weekends and things like that. and i think
