clark county. the head of the elections division in clark county at a press conference, today said, they have about 50,000 votes that they are processing. yesterday, they seemed to indicate, if you took the numbers released yesterday, that those numbers were closer to 70,000. so, we are trying to get a handle on the exact number of outstanding votes in clark county. the mail votes here, in clark county, are heavily democratic. it's a democratic county to begin with. if you look at 70,000 ballots to come, assuming in that neighborhood, mail ballots from clark county, you can, easily, see cortez masto passing laxalt, if she is running at high 50, 60%, something like that. if it's down closer to 50, 000, the math gets a little more difficult. so, we want to nail down exactly who is left there. we are expecting, sometime this hour, to get an update from clark county. in fact, i'm checking to see, if it has not yet come in. we are expecting an update from clark county tonight, and i will be curious, not

left to be counted in clark county. that's half of them. in other words, that's basically half right there. you have another batch of 24,000 still to come. and if they look just like that, she would pick up another -- she would net another 8,000 votes. so again, you go back to that state-wide margin, it was sitting at just under 9,000 before we got that update from clark, that update just came in. it brings her to 798 votes behind. as i say, there are, according to clark officials, they said 50,000 earlier today. that is 26,000 we just got. there should be about 24,000 left. if masto continues to win them at the pace she just won that last batch by, she's going to pull ahead there. she would pull ahead there by about 7,000 votes and change. and on top of that, we have coming -- this clark update, i should tell you, came a little earlier, and by a little, i mean a lot earlier than officials were suggesting it would come. so it kind of caught me off guard as you were throwing to me here. but we also have been told, there

we just got some new votes in from clark county. clark county is where las vegas is.e than 60% of the vote is there. look what just happened. the new vote reports 17,150 votes for the incumbent democrat. look at the percentages. 63% of these new votes for the incumbent democratic senator, just a third of the votes for the republican challenger. and so that's why this just happened. this has been the dynamic. this is the dynamic in this race. most of the outstanding ballots are here in clark county. it is the largest county in the state. and she has now in clark county opened a 52-45 percentage point lead. 48 to 48, this is a tie. 48.5 to 48.4, 800 votes, just shy of that. this is where the largest number of outstanding votes are still. and she needs to do this. this is what she needs to do to catch up. and if you look at this latest installment, she's exceeding that. if she's getting 52, 53, 55% of the votes in clark county, she has a very good probability of catching up in this race. and in this latest installment she's getting 63%. so if you're in the democratic cam

let's zoom out of clark county for just a minute.let's look at the msnbc estimate in terms of the votes there. about 59,000 we estimate are outstanding. that would mean it the katherine cortez masto would only have to win 51% of the remaining balance in order to win the race by a few hundred votes. as john was saying, before, you have a lot of these ballots. she is doing very well. in terms of where the american electorate is right now, in a federal election, it seems like a lot of voters are uncomfortable with the idea of putting election deniers in office. we saw this time after time. whether they were government orient candidates, there were senate and house candidates at the federal level. there were government candidates. they could affect those elections. we saw them be rejected at the polls over and over again in this particular election cycle. there were some that were in governor races or senate races. they were able to do better than he counterparts. what that means is that there are voters who were not voting straight betw

clark county is a very democratic county. been winning there by about 60% in the post election mail dump. she has a win with that kind of percentage to get over 800 votes. i think that democrats were a little disappointed in the votes that were just released from washoe county, the 11,000 that steve talked about. she only picked up about 1100 votes, won by about ten points in washoe county, stephanie. if she wins by ten points in washoe county, and ten points in clark county, she's going to win the race, even if the rurals, what's left out and the bright red rural nevada comes in, there's just not enough votes there. don't forget, there are some ballots that are still gonna be counted, mail ballots that are undergoing what's called a hearing process. there will be thousands of them. the culinary union, which is democratic organization is running a very, very intense securing program for its members. so, those ballots could favor katherine cortez masto. and then, just to put one more group of ballots into this messy makes, the
