good morning, deanna. >> good morning, vai. that hearing has just begun. lawmakers are continuing to debate what's the best way to get atlantic city out of its money troubles. an assemblyman trying to get his bill passed he says it will help protect jobs and get atlantic city out of the fiscal mess. the plan is being pitched in trenton right now. city officials have said the city would be out of money by friday. and they'd have to shut down city operations keeping only essential staff working, but they wouldn't be getting paid. yesterday city council ordered a new pay cycle for the employees there. so they'll be paid on friday, but not again until may. that will allow the city to collect may property taxes and use those funds to try and stay afloat, while state senators have passed a governor christie-backed plan to bailout atlantic city, the plan is one that the mayor has said he does not support. now, the mayor and the governor were both in atlantic city yesterday talking about the city's issues. and the two did not meet. instead, they offered dueling pr

good morning, deanna. >> reporter: good morning, vai and tracy.ister kimberly miller was out of the classroom since november when video of her arrest surfaced. on the tape you see her stumble as she's asked to perform field sobriety tests. she appears to be animated and later video shows her giving investigators a breathalyzer. police say she was driving at two times the legal limit. police say miller backed her car in a meineke in the early morning hours of november 7th and kept on driving. police video shows them carrying a bottle of wine from her car. the little flower teacher has been on leave from the classroom since november. the archdiocese of philadelphia released a statement back then saying that the incident didn't involve any students, didn't happen on school property, however, an online petition has been moving forward since november with more than 2,000 signatures asking for miller's return to the classroom. again, she's expected to be in court here in washington township later on this afternoon. reporting live in washington township,

nbc 10's deanna durante is live with the details.fill us in, deanna. >> reporter: investigators say eight shots were fired, one of those bullets hit the front door, another a window. the house was filled with people, children possibly, inside that home on the 1,000 block of wagner. that's when they say a 24-year-old man was walking out the front door about 10:30 last night when someone fired those schatz. what they don't know at this point is why those shots were fired, was the victim targeted and who was behind the shooting and why. they say they believe someone could have been firing those shots from a moving vehicle. right now they are looking for surveillance video. they say they have found some in the neighborhood and are hoping to get a description of the car. >> upon police arrival, they were told by witnesses that a male had just been shot and he fled the scene. while on location, investigating the scene, police were notified that a 24-year-old male showed up at einstein hospital, which is just three blocks away and he was sh

hi, deanna. >> reporter: good morning, katy.is happened before 10:30 last night, we're told, that a 24-year-old man was leaving a home on a 1,000 block of wagner street when someone shot at him. he was shot twice in the arm and managed to get himself to the hospital. the police have spent the overnight hours talking to witnesses and people inside that house. they tell us there were 12 people in the home, including small children. >> we're very lucky that of those 12 people inside the property none of them were struck by gunfire. none of them were injured in any way. it was just the 24-year-old victim who just exited the property who was shot. >> now, at this point, police say that the 24-year-old has given them no indication as to why someone would want to shoot him if he was targeted. police think that perhaps those schatz were fired from a moving vehicle that was driving by that house as the 24-year-old was leaving. again, they have been talking with people inside the house as well as gathering evidence from outside, including

nbc 10's deanna durante is live at the scene. deanna, what do we know at this point?>> reporter: we can tell you that police sources are telling us they believe the 23-year-old driver of the vehicle did not have a valid driver's license. take a look. this is the scene on south columbus boulevard. about two hours ago, the crash apparently happened. police say they are looking at a high rate of speed here. we have obtained some surveillance video that shows the moments before and the seconds of that crash. take a look at that video. that was given to us by a witness who says the car came past him moving very quickly and at one point they stopped at a traffic light and the car sped in front of him. watch as you see that car. it touches the center median there and then goes across two to three lanes of traffic there and crashes into the side of this building on south columbus boulevard. the driver of the car pulls over and tries to assist the victims in the car. four people in the car, two women in the front seat, a man and a woman in the back seat. we're told the back se

deanna, this case could be resolved today.ell us what you know. >> reporter: we know this philadelphia fun is expected to be in court today. she's had several court dates since her november arrest. again, she is expected to be here today and we're told that the case could be resolved. it's an early saturday morning in november, watch as sister kimberly miller stumbles during a field sobriety test. at one point while talking to police it appears as though she could be treving, this as police retrieve a bottle of wine from her car. she backed into an auto repair shop, didn't stop to report the damage and instead kept on driving. multiple 911 recallers reported a car driving erratically in the minutes before police stopped here near the black horse pike. later in the morning miller gives police a breathalyzer. in the days after her arrest an online petition gained 500 signatures. today, more than 2200 are there, all urging miller's return to the classroom. the archdiocese placed miller on leave from her teaching post in the days

reporting live in plymouth township, deanna durante, n 10 news. >> it's 4:17.ew information this morning. families of the victims killed in the germanwings plane crash in the alps are sugar a flight school. they claim the flight school in arizona did not screen the pilot's background. if they had, they would have found he had a history of issues. last year he locked the pilot out of the cockpit and crashed the plane into the mountains. evelyn selke and her mom died in that crash. evelyn was a university music major and her mom graduated from delaware county high school in 1975. >>> the planes buzzed by the "uss donald cook" about a dozen times while in the baltic sea. they flew a simulated attack and failed to respond. they're now addressing it through diplomatic channels. >>> the transportation security information says staffing problems and record number of travelers are causing long checkpoint delays leading many to miss their flight. during spring break last month, nearly 6,800 passengers missed flights nationwide because of tsa checkpoint delays. philly jo

"nbc 10's" deanna durante has the latest on the investigation. we begin this morning with pamela osborne who's outside of penn present hospital. pamela, fill us in. >> reporter: vai, we just got an update from one of the police officials who was here visiting the officer. he is doing well and in good spirits. police patrol vehicles parked outside of the emergency room entrance of course is where that officer was taken after he was shot by an armed suspect last night. at this time he remains here getting treatment. throughout the morning we saw officers from the 18th district going in and out of presbyterian hospital where hours earlier one of their own was taken after being shot. it happened just before 9:00 sunday evening. two-year philadelphia police officer james mccullough was on patrol with his partner in the area of 59th and market when they were stopped by a woman who said two men were breaking into her car. officers spotted the two men trying to run away from the woman's vehicle. officer mccullough tackled one of the men to the ground and

nbc 10's deanna durante is live in logen to explain what happened. >> this all happened around 10:30last night. police think those bullets may have come from a car. this was a drive-by shooting as a 24-year-old man was leaving a house on the 1,000 block of wagner street. there were a number of people inside that home and that many of them are lucky they were also not hit by gunfire. the 24-year-old man was able to get himself to the hospital where he's being treated at this hour. >> we don't have a motive for the shooting at this time. but of the eight shot that were fired, two of the bullets entered the living room of the private residence that the victim had just left. one bullet went through the front door, another bullet went through the living room window. inside, the propertyç at the te where the two bullets entered the living room, there were 12 people. >> now, many of those people have been or are being interviewed by detectives here with the philadelphia police department northwest detective division. so far, sources tell us they do not have a motive or a description of the

nbc 10's deanna durante is live in washington township where the court hearing is scheduled.tell us more. >> sister kimberly miller is due in court today. it was in november nbc 10 obtained video failing a breathalyzer. early on that november morning, police say she backed into an auto repair shop and multiple witnesses reported she was driving rererratically near bla horse pike. >> reporter: on the tape you see her stumble as she's asked to perform field sobriety tests. she appears to be animated and later video shows her giving investigators a breathalyzer. police say miller backed her car in a meineke in the early morning hours of november 7th and kept on driving. police video shows them carrying a bottle of wine from her car. the little flower teacher has been on love from the classroom since november. miller has had a number of scheduled court dates, here at washington township since that arrest. there could be a resolution today at that court hearing this afternoon. coming up at 4:30, we'll look at the social media push to get her back in the classroom. roaring live in
