news4's derrick ward continues our team coverage with that side of the story. derrick? >> reporter: this intersection here of west north street and pennsylvania avenue is quite literally a crossroads for the city. it has been since monday when this intersection was the scene of pretty much the worst of the riots. as you can see now take a look, it's a happier mood here. people have been gathering at this corner pretty much all day. i'll show you the scene earlier where cars were coming by when there was a lot of traffic here on west north which is actually where route 1 comes through the city of baltimore. people were blowing their horns, waving flags leaning out of their cars. it was a congrat latory sense here. that is upon learning the news that six officers have been charged. but again underneath it all, we've spoken to people who say there's a sense of tempering all of this. that the trial and other things have yet to come. we actually got this from a whom who brought a child out here to take a look at things. she said she wanted to make sure he got one of life's v

derrick ward news4. >>> at noon marchers in baltimore will begin marching towards city hall.t police arrested 15 protesters for violating the curfew. police say they are no longer on tactical alert but the curfew will stay in effect through the weekend. yesterday the state's attorney announced it was a homicide. all six police officers involved in this death are facing criminal charges. take a look at their shots. officer caesar goodesongoodson, he was driving the police van that carried gray when he suffered a spinal injury. three others are charged with involuntary manslaughter. the two on the top are charged with assault. all six officers bonded out of jail last night. >>> police chased and detained freddie gray nearly three weeks ago in baltimore and once detained officers did find a knife clipped inside his pants. it is a knife that was legal to carry. based on that evidence the states attorney says they should not have placed gray under arrest. once he was arrested officers failed to keep him safed in the police transport fan. >> the knife was not a switchblade and is l

news 4's derrick ward live in baltimore now. so far darrick, what is the mood like out where you are? >> well, you know, there is a sense that this city is already started to heal. people want the curfew lifted. they are asking the governor for that. instead, he's responded to those pleas with what we're going to see later, statewide day of healing and prayer. this process started. talk about curfew violations and arrests. that one to be expected. handful of arrests compared to people out on the street. the governor has actually chosen this church because it has a tradition here on the west side of ministering to this community. as we said, the day after the actual riots last month, the archbishop came here. from this church they walked this neighborhood. we hear this message from the governor today that the world is watching. that's interesting because you hear that coming from the highest office in maryland and you also hear it when you talk to people in this neighborhood, you hear a similar message. >> the world is watching.

derrick ward is live with more on this unfolding investigation. we noticed the crime team is still up derrick. >> reporter: well indeed this is still a crime scene. even though that crime occurred a week last thursday. you know there was enough evidence yielded here to lead to the arrest and murder charge against one person. authorities probably think they can find more here. what would they be looking for? well that could be spelled out in court documents. court documents are associated with the first court appearance of the person that was arrested in this case. let's take you back. one thing those documents say is that this crime required the presence and assistance of more than one person. now, at this point, daron wint is the only named suspect. he was arrested thursday one week after the crime after he and a group of people two males and three women were stopped as they crossed into the district from college park. they've been under police surveillance. there was at least $10,000 in cash in one of those vehicles. and a woman who was with win

good morning, derrick. >> reporter: good morning. what you need to know is that virginia avenue and the other side of 25th street is now closed between -- at 25th street at the parkway by the river. take a look. you can see why. this happened just after 10:00 a.m. yesterday morning. a 40 by 40 foot section of an indoor parking garage pancaked down onto several other levels below it. now, we do know that the overnight they brought in some metal beams and steel beams to shore up the remains of the structure. what is happening right now is that there was a cadaver dog that alerted on a 12 foot pile that remains there as a result of that collapse. they weren't able to actually get in and do some intense searching of that pile until they shored up what remained of the structure. that search continues. a lot of the search and rescue efforts in this area have been sent to nepal to deal with the earthquake. but we know at least one cadaver dog and its handler is here. the cause of this collapse remains under investigation at this point. ther
