derrick ward out there at the scene to show us what's going on. derrick? >> reporter: yeah, we're looking at the outer loop of the beltway just as it crosses under allen town road. take a look at the scene. we have a single car. from here it appears to be an unmarked car, but it is definitely off of the beltway. off of the roadway on the other side of the guardrail into the bushes. we're told this crash involved a maryland state trooper and a vehicle which did not stop. we don't have any lookout at this point or any description of that alleged striking vehicle, but we're told that the trooper is going to be okay. now, you are losing one lane here to emergency vehicles which is effectively two lanes because of that move-over law in maryland. if you can move over adjacent to the emergency lane, you're supposed to do that. at this point, no slowup, no injuries. only thing is a lookout, a description if there is one available that struck this vehicle which is apparently a maryland state trooper's vehicle. we'll have more on this as it becomes available. we're

news4's derrick ward talked to neighbors what they saw and heard before the crash. >> reporter: the scene here was bad all by itself. around 10:30 saturday night, this car crashed into a ground floor apartment. it hit with enough force to go through the wall of the unit. >> the wall was shaking. >> i heard a big boom. that's all i heard. >> so i opened my door. i looked over and there was a car in the hallway. my whole thing was to get my wife and kids out of the house. >> reporter: with the car blocking the stairs, the main way out for residents, that was next to impossible. and the building was filling with smoke. >> so nobody can leave out the building. they started passing babies off the balconies. >> reporter: paramedics found the car's driver trapped inside and unconscious and found what police are calling trauma to tupper body. she was pronounced dead at the hospital. before the crash, residents of a building up the hill had been awakened by the car hitting this fence and backing up, and then the sound of gunfire. and of that car lurching forward. from all appearances the car went

derrick ward joins us. what have you learned about the victims so far? >> reporter: the police have not released the names of the victims. they are pending the notification of next to kin. sources tell news 4 that at least one of those victims may have just been released from jail as early as hours before he was killed. now, it was about ten minutes before 8:00 when police were called to this apartment complex on central avenue in the 6800 block of central gardens for the report of gunfires. as many as five shots rang out when police got there, they found two men dead in the walkway of the building you see behind me at 6802 central avenue. they don't have any information about a suspect at this point. both men have been pronounced dead, were pronounced dead. police are not releasing their name or any information about the suspects. this case remains under investigation and they are asking for any help from the public, anyone who may know anything to get in touch with them. we are live on central avenue in capital heights. derrick ward, news 4. >> as you

derrick ward joins us where the u.s. capitol police chief sat down with organizers to apologize today. derrick? >> reporter: at about 10:00 tomorrow the 20th anniversary of the million man march will be observed here on the grounds of the capitol. like any big events that happens in the city, security is a part of it. you can see the security on the west end of the capitol. there was almost a bit of a controversy surrounding this and it had something to do with security, as well and it stems from a single line in a newsletter. it never quite rose to the letter of a controversy. it was seen more of an affront, part of a popular perception of louis farrakhan. >> we're not naive to think that the rhetoric didn't exist. only this time we got a copy of it. >> there was a passage contained in the newsletter that was issued to the united states capitol police employees by an employee of the division of intelligence and information analysis, in part, it read, quote, minister farrakhan has been accused of inciting violence. >> to

derrick ward is live in upper marlboro right now and, derrick, there are some new restrictions in place, i understand. >> reporter: well, indeed they are. it's been since 2013 that there's been a gun show here at prince george's county show place arena. today the moratorium that was put in place was lifted because there was no legal standing to keep it in place, but some restrictions are in place, put in place by the maryland national capital park and planning commission. this is their property. one of those restrictions you see on the sign here, no ammunition. it is indeed prohibited. something else that you will see in here are trigger locks on all of the guns, all of the weapons for sale and they won't allow any dry firing as well. folks have already started to line up at the doors. this is one of the most well-attended gun shows they do in the area because it captures people from all over the region. one of the people coming here thinks the restrictions are a bit much. >> if it's a gun show, you should be able to get ammunition. you're buying a gun for home protection or whatever, a
