we have some rain moving in and we powered up our storm ranger mobile doppler radar. that's really exclusive to nbc bay area. it's a mobile doppler radar, yeah, a radar on top of a truck, and it gives us a live scan of the rain as it falls from the sky. it's also lower in the atmosphere, and so as it comes through, it's picking up on every single raindrop that's falling, and we can zoom on down to the street level. this makes all the difference, because with the live scan, you're watching the other stations, they're about two to five minutes behind us, and that makes a big difference if you're getting ready to head out the door. we are getting a look at the rain, as it approaches the north bay. here is a look at ukiah, as that rain starts to move in. lot of greens here. we're also seeing some yellows and reds, which indicate some heavier rain, and this is going to make its way down to ukiah within the next 30 to 40 minutes, while the rest of the bay area still dry right now, and this is a live look at christmas in the park in downtown san jose. as you're getting dress

so we powered up our storm ranger, that's our mobile doppler radar.ee that right here on nbc bay area. the scan is live, so when you look at other stations, the radar and what you're seeing on there, is about two to five minutes behind what we're showing and also our storm ranger scans closer to the ground, so other radars may miss out on all the detail that we're seeing right here, so here is the red scan, parked on san bruno mountain. so far, the rain has been pretty light. as you get ready to head out the door in the north bay for much of sonoma county we're seeing showers and just north of santa rosa there's light rain coming down. if you're going north or south on 101 in that area, it is going to be wet at times. we're also seeing some light rain on the richmond-san rafael bridge and some spotty showers right over there by treasure island. as we head down to the south bay, some spotty rain, a couple of sprinkles, most of it over the hills, but as you drive up 101 coming from morgan hill, some light rain as of now. let's widen out the view and sho
