an eastern iowa city has issued water warning... the city of waterloo water works company saying recently there's been some gh nitrate levels in the city's water -- which is unsafe for infants to drink... been learning more about this and has more information this morning... these wet sots left on could give insight to why nitrate levels reported above average in waterloo this week. "the acceptable contaminents level is 10 parts per million, and the levels came back 10.7 parts per million" after a heavy rain in terloo thursday, waterloo waterworks detected high nitrate levels at one specific pump in town, park. "this surprised us because it was a very quick spike, this million"" clark says they aren't was the direct cause of the high nitrate but it's likely. nitrates tpically cooe from storms and agricultural runoff so what does that mean for you? "they did the right thing, they called 911 and our crews were in good position to be able to, well, save the man's life. today is election day, and across eastern iowa voters will choose city council members and make other local decisions. one choice for voters... is if the cedar rapids public library see additional funds. the library wants voters to approve a levy of 27 cents for one thousand dollars of the assessed taxable valuation of a home. that would cost the owner of a cedar rapids home valued at 150- thousand dollars an extra 23 dollars a year. this levy would raise an estimated one-point-six million dollars each year for the library. board members say if they don't get the funding, the library could close one day a week. also on the ballot in cedar rapids are those vying for the at-large and district candidates for city council. voting officials in johnson county will be extra watchful during today's city elections. they want to make sure "poll watchers" are following state law. johnson county auditor travis weipert says he's heard some candidates in university heights and iowa city will have poll watchers at voting locations. these people can contest a person who filled it out is not eligible

"this is going to be the biggest event in the state that day, we have a small city in a very small area, and very high profile, we have the number five team in the nation playing, hopefully we'll be very successful, but it does create some interest out there." up to 70 thousand fans will pack into kinnick stadium this weekend. but getting in, won't be as routine as it's been in the past. the biggest change -- purses and other medium sized bags will not be allowed through the gates.
