heavy rain, over frederick county, and southern portions of washington county. they have a warning there. take a look at the activity, moving off to the east/northeast at around 20 miles an hour. around the city now, one cell from finksburg down to columbia, moving up toward the northern sections of our region. just going to brush the region. the heaviest activity, around just to the south of frederick, moving across harpers ferry, brunswick. out in west virginia? a little bit of washington county the next hour. south of our region, there you see it. moving through, just north of columbia, toward the southern suburbs of baltimore. we have showers and thunderstorm activity. very heavy rain in a very short time. some areas may get an inch of rain and gusty winds between now and 5:30, 6:00. most of the activity will be done, we think, about 8:00 tonight. take a look at temperatures around the region. rain temperatures back in the 70s. didn't get that hot. but the dew points are high at 68. 81 here. 82 in ocean city. in oakland. generally 70s to low 80s. most places

it looks like it will stay dry to the evening but out in parts of frederick county, maybe carroll county, watch for some hours -- some showers sneaking in. there is a bunch of rain back into the ohio valley likely to impact this region as we head into tomorrow afternoon 24 hours from now, it looks like it will be wed in many areas in baltimore. in the advance of this, the national weather service has put up flood watches on up towards new york city. it could create flooding conditions. some swatches have been already posted for the mountains of west virginia as well. nothing in the rain gauge today. temperatures were about normal today. clouds will be gradually increasing as that wet weather approaches overnight. a blanket of cloudiness coming in and a light southbury's, expect a warm and muggy night. upper 60's in some of the outlying suburbs. it is a cold front, and hopefully it will be able to get past baltimore. if it keeps sliding past us, some of the drier air may get here for the start of the weekend. saturday could be a little bit more comfortable. it might try out just a touch.

we have video of stuff we found in frederick county at whiskey creek golf course. at least a half dozen homes had huge trees snapped like tooth picks on top of cars, trucks, and homes. the swimming pools, and we even so you portions of rooftops off the golf course itself, off the house, clubhouse at the golf course had been removed. state police are checking out the area. right now, back here in carol county, we're showing you homes that's where the trees pretty much are knocked down. here, the trees were in different directions as if it touched down and blue it to the left and right. fortunately, we haven't heard of any injuries. we noticed on i-83 with flipped cars and people hurt in traffic accidents. we haven't heard of anyone else hurt in their homes or from tree damage. we'll try to get more information on this storm coverage. >> it's going to be a tough weekend cleaning up all the mess. >> they spent the summer sprucing up maryland state parks while learning important job and life skills. more than 200 signed up, a program that steered them away from trouble

the commercial chopper went down on i-70 near hagerstown along the washington-frederick county line. us live now where the wreckage was taken. sherry, what new information do we have this morning? >> well, with know this was a commercial helicopter and we're being told that the four people on board that chopper took off from the hagerstown regional airport here last night but investigators are not saying where that chopper was headed. it crashed on i-70 on the east side of south mountain and we are waiting a briefing from the ntsb here at the airport in just a few hours to get more information. the maryland state police say one of their troopers spotted the flaming wreckage heading to work along i-70 just before 10:30 last night. what i'm told is that he actually thought it was a burning car at first. all four people on board the robinson r-44 four-seater died. it crashed in the media around mile marker 37. a number of cars were on the highway and saw what happened. they reported seeing a low- flying aircraft. there was also fog in the area at the time but it is up clear if weather w
