i asked a lot in a previous hearings how the city i.t. budget compares to the rest of the world, to our peers out there and we have done a study over the last year. it is a complex question because we are a highly decentralized organization. 25% or 35% of the spending is recognized. the overall budget for the city if you add up all the departments'budget is fairly consistent for we see in the u.s. our uniqueness is the fact that we are highly decentralized in the fact that only 20% of the staff i.t. work force works in our department. the restaurant in supporting the departments directly -- the rest are out in supporting the departments directly. we split our budget into five major areas, divisions, if you will in our department. we have our basic operations which is a very large part of our budget. this is all the behind-the- scenes spending to keep the datacenter running and support the mainframes and things like that. we have another part that we call the public safety area which is focused on the technologies related to public safety

i was pleased to hear the director of i.t. states that the departments that have migrated to the consolidated e-mail system cannot migrate to -- can migrate to 365. this is what we have been advocating for. this will allow us to avoid duplication of potential disruption that we may incur, even though we are going to migrate one time. it is very successful, so i am hopeful it will be for us and the department. our major expenses and revenues. i am thinking probably by thanksgiving is when they would have time to migrate the department does well, but let's say in the fall to reduce the proposed expenditure budget totals $11.4 million. this is a $591,000 increase from the current year, driven by a labor costs saw, so the revenues anticipated to increase but taper off beginnings in 1314. dodi here is a view of the proposed budget allocated by expense-for fiscal year 2014. a part of our allocation is salaries and benefits to give the breakdown in professional services, and $2 million for analyst services, 3,000,015, 174 citywide ma

our i.t. department is actually moving this weekend into the building. they have installed the servers and such, so the building is starting to function. over the next several weeks, we will start transitioning the majority of our employees from 1155 and 1145, so by the end of july, we will be operating out of that building. the building is very exciting for innovation. you can see the sort of living machine in the lobby. the video wall is quite stunning. those things are being run right now and will be fully up and running on june 20. it would like to see the building before june 20, that would be great. commissioner moran toured it already and can provide impressions. we will be meeting here for regular commission meetings, but if we have special meetings that need an off site location, they would be in the new building. commissioner courtney: i would not take up too much time, but i would say that as someone who represents the work force -- workforce, it is quite an extraordinary place to call your daytime home. i think the building is suited to gener
