i do think the larger issue for me is i think some of the things that jacqui was reporting on. democrats need to take a step back. we are out of touch with where the majority of the country wants to go. some of the criticism being levelled at president trump is unwarranted. the notion of our democracy is dead or the democracy is dormant or the democracy in disrepair. those conversations should stop. we seem now to be a party more interested in entertaining than engaging. we have the biggest entertainers and actors say things and really rallies the elites in our party. if we want sustainable solutions to housing and education shortcomings, cultural im positions we're placing on people, we have to think about that and get serious about a new message there before we think about our messaging. we don't have a purpose right now. this is something that we can gather. it's right to say that she got in the race at a short period of time. maybe she chose the wrong v.p. that all may be true. we still should have run a campaign with a purpose. with a message. that's what i take from this.

what is a mood over there at this point, jacqui?ce in a while we get this glaring reminder that just over three months ago this was joe biden's campaign. every time we want to get any information from campaign officials, we have to text someone in wilmington. there aren't any campaign staffers walking around, and that means that often we can't get answers to simple things like how many people are in this crowd, who is in this crowd, what is their connection to the vice president, which groups were invited. we have posed these questions to the campaign and not been able to get any answers. i've also spoken to some close sources to harris at watch party nearby in the city. friends, family, and donors had receptions at two big hotels in the area. they are making their way over here a newbie hanging out in a basement somewhere inside the building. but even they don't have confirmation that the vice president is going to come here tonight. we don't have any program for the speakers. right now they have just been piping in cnn behind me.

jacqui heinrich in philadelphia covering the harris campaign. she's doing a blitz there of pennsylvania today. four stops in total. >> that's right. and i was just watching those remarks john and it was really incredible to me that she referred to trump twice as the other guy. that is a serious shift away from how she launched the final leg of her campaign with a fiery speech at the ellipse on tuesday. she attacked trump by name two dozen times. we noticed the shift began yesterday where she did not mention trump by name all day long and a few moments ago senior campaign official told me that is the strategy. they want to close out fully positive. it will be interesting to see how long she can keep that up because as pete buttigieg noted in an interview, the campaign sometimes wants to respond to some of the things that trump does but that takes them off of message about what the harris campaign can do for voters so it is a delicate dance for them and they have evidently calculated that the focus right now needs to be on what harris could do if

back to you guys spewing let's check in the jacqui heinrich, at the harris campaign headquarters. hi. >> quite a different scene at their compared to where she is, i should note that at the harris headquarters, we don't have harris campaign officials because they are all in wilmington tonight. we are trying to get a sense from campaign officials about who was invited, how many thousands will be here, who is in the crowd. i am hearing from people close to the vice president sort of watching these reports come in, they started to name anxious about georgia. the first batch of data that they getting -- x source close to the bp says they are seeing high turnout in the metro atlanta area. as of a short while ago they had a 10 plus-point lead among women showing up. also they noted that black turnout was slow to start but it is finishing strong in the attribute that today or get out the vote efforts. one thing they have been wrestling with is whether or not they underestimated trump's get out the vote efforts. they are not seeing signs of that but they are feeling happy about that first
