and he shouldn't bite, jason.was found guilty by a biased jury of crimes that don't even exist under the law. he was all but framed by a politically driven da who worked in concert with a hostile judge who was required to recuse himself but refused to do it. so this turned out to be a sham trial based on a convoluted incoherent legal theory, as you point out. it was utterly absurd. it was rife with reversible errors by the judge and it will eventually get overturned but for now i expect trump to fight any sentencing. he wants to clear his name. he'll probably seek a stay in the appellate courts so we'll see what happens next week, but if trump does not get a stay, he still benefits because only after sentencing can he begin appealing the case on the merits and own the stakes that merchan made. >> jason: alan, what's your take on this case? you've been around the block. you've seen an awful lot of cases. what's the latest, your perspective? >> this is the worst instance of stalinism in my sixty-year career. you kno

jason, can you put it into prospectors perspective, the severity of these fires? is this unusual even for california? as it is, we haven't seen wind gusts of a 100 miles an hour in decades. you tie that with the fact that there hasn't been any significant rain here in southern california in very many years. so now you've got extremely dry and conditions. very hot winds coming in from the, the top of the hills and making their way down into the basin. and this is what's creating a fire storm, a wind storm, if you will. and i mean right now, even in my, my area, which i'm about 20 miles south of the palisades fire, and you can hear it outside and it sounds like it's raining, but it's just the way that's blind at such high speed. it's, it's really an odd time here in southern california. now it runs $30000.00 residents on the evacuation orders. the holiday being helped to say there's a back you ation centers that are being open uh, in places in safe places around the pacific palisades. but i'll tell you the fire crews i've had to say, you gotta listen to us. when we

and i got an update on the situation from jason comfort. only i'm a journalist with nbc, and i heard the radio issue here that firefighters are facing are what's called the amber cast. so an amber from a palm tree or something to that effect in the pacific palisades may get caught by the winds and then go up to about 3 miles away and started another fire. and then an ember from that fire starts a 1000000 fire. and it, what it does is that spreads and firefighters really, really in right now, there's about and a couple of 100 of firefighting personnel, from firefighting crews around southern california who are there to hell. but we've learned that and just the past couple of minutes that some of the embers are actually catching life guard towers on fire. oh, so there's nothing else on the beach except the sand and a life guard tower. and that ember found that life guard tower somehow. so my and now it's been burned to the ground, so it's very, very difficult for firefighters to be quicker than the wind. uh earlier today, we saw people trying
