northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg has details about the case. jeff: just hours after being arrested at his home, 25-year-old haris qamar appeared in federal court without a lawyer and without saying much. according to court documents qamar is charged with providing material support for isis had plenty to say to an f.b.i. informant about support for the islamic state and the violent methods of beheadings and suicide bombings. authorities say they first became aware of his views from the consistent use of twitter in 2015. and in late may of this year, qamar allegedly helped scout landmarks across d.c. and arlington including the pentagon for an isis video encouraging lone wolf style attacks. northern virginia chief jeff goldberg has an update on his status. ff: 18-year-old connor golden who graduated from oakton high last year remains in the hospital in new york after he suffered complication from surgery that led to an infection. meanwhile friends and family of connor are doing all they can to help him move forward. we spoke to close friends of connor and his family. through the chorus group. they started a go fund me page for connor that raised $50,000 for 600 donors to help pay fo medical bills and the recovery cost followed the injury. on july 3 he and his two friends were walking on central park when he jumped from a rock on what police describe as homemade fireworks that detonated. the explosion required his leg to be amputated below his left knee. >> we felt like we wanted to help but we were helpless. provided an avenue for people to come together, bond as a community and feel like they were doing good. >> it's incredible the outpouring of the support we have had. connor golden's family has doubts on what police say happened. we h

northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg is live with a look at how things are going so far. eff? jeff: it's felt like grand central station all afternoon here at pentagon city. we have these folks going down the escalator now. likely just got off a shuttle from braddock road or from national airport. this gentleman here giving information to folks. those folks going downstairs washington, d.c. these folks coming up the escalator right now just got off of a metro. from d.c. very likely. they will be headed to one of two shuttle buses. either this one going to reagan national airport or another one going to the braddock road metro station. that for commuters. it's really busy and it has been all afternoon. now down below it was crowded. not surprisingly on the platform at pentagon city metro with people going in so many different directions. surge four will last for a week or so and it means the closure of the blue and yellow line between pentagon city and the reagan airport. it will impact 86,000 trips a day. surge four creates a particular challenge for a lot of travelers. a

northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg joins us live with how the county is responding today. jeff? jeff: well, alison, fairfax police chief says he wants all the data, all the information out there so procedures can be reviewed an this is what was going on here today at the government center with the chief joining other members of the fairfax county police department, member of the board of supervisors and plenty of others in this meeting this afternoon that at times did get a bit intense here at the government center. the chief supporting findings of ad hock review commission calling for greater -- the ad hoc review commission calling for greater oversight in practices for fairfax county. the commission was created in the wake of the fatal shooting of john geer. an officer adam torres was sentenced to a year in jail for the shooting. there are a total of 539 incidents that revealed 40% of the use of force cases involved african-americans who only make up 8% of the county population. >> unfortunately, the numbers do show the african-american male community. that is the reality
