kari has a look at our forecast for today. spring-like temperatures continue? >> summer-like temperatures indeed. pushing near record highs today. in parts of the bay area, we're talking about 90s inland. but we're going back to winter this weekend. so just a little bit of a note there that things won't stay this way. it's now 60 degrees as you step out the door in oakland, 63 in palo alto and san jose and 58 already in san francisco with highs there reaching 82 degrees. 90s for the north bay and spots like concord and livermore as well as the south bay. palo alto today up to 89 degrees. we'll talk about when we get a break from this heat coming up in a few minutes. mike starts us out with what's happening in oakland. >> things look pretty calm all around the bay, as you would expect. tuesday, we expect heavier volume than yesterday, but we'll see how things pan out. the approach toward 980 heading over to 880 itself westbound, reports of a disabled big rig. i'm watching for that, one lane might be blocked but it's not as heavily used as the rest of the maze. w

let's turn to meteorologist kari hall. when can we expect improvement? >> we'll have gusty winds as we go through the early morning and afternoon. the winds will be picking up. we see the direction of the wind speeds by these arrows here blowing onshore and also across the bay, so as we get a look closer at the smoke, it's mostly flowing into sassoon bay and mostly over the marshlands so we won't see this moving over towards vallejo and as there's an approaching cold front we can see by the clouds spanning over the ocean and moving closer to the bay area. that will cause the winds to increase as we go into the rest of the afternoon. so the smoke is still coming in from the west and moving off towards the east, and we will still see that same wind direction, even as this cold front approaches, but it will be stronger which may carry it a little bit farther off towards the east, and we'll continue to monitor that. sam and kris. >> thank you very much. a live look at that flaring once again and as kari mentioned we'll continue to follow this breaking news.

in san francisco there on the left and there's our window on right over palo alto and meteorologist kari hal is how long with how we can expect with the haze that stuck around. >> i want to show you the clouds that were rolling away from mt. hamilton looking at a time lapse camera with a sunrise earlier this morning. you can see the clouds over the south bay but then suddenly they just cleared out and that's what we're seeing right now. at least for the south bay not the whole bay area. we've been seeing those clouds here and there looking from the bottom, looking at the clear skies now in the south bay, and this is where the temperatures are a little bit warmer. we're also seeing the warmer temperatures in the north bay and over towards fairfield. in palo alto it's 57 degrees and also 57 degrees in san francisco with highs there only up to 61 degrees today. we're still seeing the clouds along the coast, and for the inland value its we're going to be into the low to mid-70s today. still nice and cool and very comfortable later on today. we are going to be in for some warmer temperatures.
