katherine scott is live outside the special victims units with more on the story. good morning katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam police say this was a punishment that the woman locked her four children in the basement with no access to a bathroom or food for more than 12 hours over the weekend. she was taken to the special victims unit for questioning her children were taken to saint christophers for evaluation. the detectives at the home on the 1900 block of east atlantic street on sunday investigating. the siblings are between 9 and 13 years old. one of the trapped children was able to call 911 around 1:30 sunday afternoon. firefighters climbed through the second floor bedroom and opened the door for police who were able to get into the basement. a friend of the victim said she saw the mother and daughter arguing saturday afternoon neighbors were stunned. >> it's a shame. i love kids, i have two of my own, i can never imagine the kids being in this situation regardless, it breaks my heart. >> reporter: authorities were trying to work out who the children w
