kris sanchez right now. so kris you got some information about pg&e. what are they. hi there. kari.o that fire danger has pg&e warning all of us that we need to be ready to potentially lose power. at least for 24 hours or so in and high fire danger zones. cal fire and other fire departments are also warning to take that red flag warning very seriously. i'm in santa clara county, one of the five counties affected, and under that warning, alameda, contra costa, solano and napa counties also impacted the entire city of santa rosa. also seeing elevated fire conditions because of the heat and the dry conditions and the wind. yeah, definitely. we're in the peak of a fire season right now in october, november. these fall months where everything has been dry all through the summer with no precipitation since early spring. once annette rain fall comes whenever that is, that's when we'll see some lightning of our critical fire weather. but until then, we're still deep in it and we could see any type of fire ignition. with the weather coming this weekend. now, because of the fire danger, pg&e

nbc bay area's kris sanchez reports he's already laying out some of his goals. chief paul joseph has been doing the top job for about seven months now, but he's been with the san jose police department for 30 years. chief joseph became the acting chief when former chief anthony mata retired in his 30 years with the sdpd. he's been a captain over the western patrol division, a lieutenant with homicide, robbery and patrol divisions. as well. and now he will lead the department of nearly 1200 sworn officers and nearly 600 other professional employees in his tenure. he's taken on the cause of transparency after several officers were accused of misconduct. when we make mistakes, when we don't meet the expectations of the community, i will be open and honest about that as well. if someone isn't doing the job in the way that they're supposed to, if someone shouldn't be here in the first place, they're not going to be here. the chief told us he will push on three fronts maximizing technology, freeing up officers by shifting some responsibilities to other staff, and usin

nbc bay area's kris sanchez with how it works. there is no question that technology is a part of the solution, but having more officers on the street really makes an impact. i want to show you what happened in oakland this weekend. the chp deployed 60 officers there as part of an unannounced surge operation. 22 people were arrested, five of them connected to sideshows. then on sunday, another 16 people were arrested at a different sideshow since the four-month operation started. the governor says that more than 300 people have been arrested and more than 600 stolen vehicles recovered. when we can bring more resources to the table and respond to these incidents, we have more personnel that we can utilize to either shut down sideshows as well as ultimately detain and arrest people, tow vehicles. but smaller agencies like morgan hill are maximizing their reach through technology, through ai and machine learning. agencies like morgan hill pd can integrate existing audio detection with video cameras and license plate readers. flock saf

kris sanchez, nbc, bay area news, i would imagine. all right. thank you very much, chris. new details from oakland police as they investigate a break at a cannabis dispensary. a break in there, all centering around the dispensary along lakeshore boulevard. police now say at least one vehicle used in the break in rammed into the building, allowing multiple people to gain access to it. the group managed to take off with several items before fleeing the scene. so far, no arrests have been made. also new overnight this may hit a little too close to home for some a's fans, but while you were sleeping, a legendary las vegas hotel reduced to rubble. yeah, spectacular implosion there. took down the tropicana resort on the las vegas strip. so this happened at 230 this morning. drone video showing the fireworks show leading up to the implosion, which also included a's inspired light designs. now this all culminated with the city's first casino implosion in nearly a decade. the tropicana first opened back in 1957. we probably don't have to remind you what is supposed to replace it. p
