i'm kristein sze. dangerous water continues to rise in texas. communities across the lone star state are bracing for more rain and flooding. new drone video shows just how catastrophic the flooding has been already. this is league city outside houston. bay area rescuers joining others across the country rushing to the region to help. officials say 2,000 people have been rescued in the houston area alone. abc 7 news reporter maggie ruehly is tracking the latest live in houston. maggie? >> reporter: we are getting hit with more rain and wind here in houston, and we're expecting another band of heavy rain coming our way only adding to an already catastrophic situation. the country's fourth largest city remains under water. with more heavy rain expected, the city could be soaked with up to 50 inches. >> this is a landmark event. we have not seen an event like this. you could not draw this forecast up. you could not dream this forecast up. >> then today a new problem. officials say city dams built to protect downtown houston against a 1,000-year floo

i'm kristein sze. happening now. workers are picketing outside the san rafael health and wellness center because they refused to take down a website that accuses the nursing home operator of some illegal practices. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live outside the center with the latest. amy? >> reporter: kristen, we just got a strongly worded statement from the brius healthcare calling what's going on behind me is grandstanding and a vengeful statewide campaign against brius. these workers are on strike at the san rafael health and wellness center but they are not fighting for what you think, but they are fighting for a website where they post their complaints about how the company treats them and the patients. workers say they often don't have enough supplies and sometimes even enough food for the patients. they say brius wants them to take the website down as part of contract negotiations. labor representatives and members question if that is legal and say they think it is protected under freedom of speech. >

i'm kristein sze. investigators now say this early morning fire in campbell was likely an accident. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live at the scene at april way and hamilton avenue. matt? >> kristen, one firefighter told me that this is the most cars he's seen destroyed in one fire in his entire long career. you can see this is a mess that still needs to be cleaned up, but the good news, no one was hurt. the flames were huge around 3:00 this morning as they destroyed this carport in an apartment complex in campbell of a hamilton avenue across from the ebay campus. residents in the area had to quickly decide whether to stay or go. >> nothing like having to evacuate your kids at 3:00 a.m. >> so you moved them over there. >> just to keep them safe because we didn't know how big and how long it was going to go on. a few moments it was pretty big an intense and scarey. >> steve chapman shot this video from his cell phone and his back fence was destroyed. >> the whole carport went up pretty quick. >> reporter: by the time the firefighters put out the flame 16 vehicles were destroyed.
