ktiv's tommie clark spoke with those drivers today. tommie, schedules seem to go out the window when a big storm hits. matt and sheila, i spoke with drivers who say it's more than a job. they work 7 a-m to 7 p- m...or vise versa. there's almost 50 pieces of snow equipment in the sioux city streets department, with 18 of those being the spreader trucks. they drop salt and sand and have blades to plow those streets. they're the ones first on the streets and last on the streets. the sioux city streets superintendant says they're a special bunch and hard workers. ktiv's own matt breen had the honor of leading today's ceremony. norfolk, nebraska veterans gathered to honor those who served or are serving. retired navy caplin mike moreno was the guest speaker at the norfolk veterans home. moreno served eight years on aaive duty, and still l rves in the e serves. he spoke about purpose, and said those who serve put on the uniform so the "we don't fight because we hate the people in front of us, we fight because of the people behind us that we love and that's you guys." moreno went on to say people can honor the terans who died by following theieidreams. today, students of lyons-decatur northeast gave back to veterans today. every student, preschool through 12th grade took part in a special assembly . they do it every year. after the pledge of allegience, fourth graders read a special poem. some of the seniors shared the stories of veterans they interviewed. the students also raised $5,000 for a veterans memorial being plannein lyons. jerry ludwig accepted the check and was so moved he couldn't speak.
