"we did have witnesses who saw the vehicle travel up over the hill, went as far to say they thought it actually caught air, was airborn coming over the hill," "it was traveling that fast." sioux city fire rescue and sioux city police used the jaws of life to remove at least one of the accident victims from the vehicle, that was reported stolen five days ago. paramedics rushed them to mercy medical center, but they didn't survive. no one else was seriously injured. however, a woman in the suv who was pregnant told us she was going to the hospital. her one-year

ktiv's tommie clark spoke with those drivers today. tommie, schedules seem to go out the window when a big storm hits. matt and sheila, i spoke with drivers who say it's more than a job. they work 7 a-m to 7 p- m...or vise versa. there's almost 50 pieces of snow equipment in the sioux city streets department, with 18 of those being the spreader trucks. they drop salt and sand and have blades to plow those streets. they're the ones first on the streets and last on the streets. the sioux city streets superintendant says they're a special bunch and hard workers. "they're out there on the nights, they're out there on the weekends, they're out there on the holidays- time away from their family and friends and events so i think highly of them," said sioux city streets superintendent, ed pickens. he says teamwork is big for their department. i rode around in one of those trucks and spoke with a driver. he's been plowing the streets of sioux city for the past five years. ktiv's robert lowe was at the meeting and will have more for us tonight on news 4 at ten. a housing project in northeast nebraska is being built faster than expected. hartington security bank branch president brandon baller plans are progressing rapidly to build more available housing in the area. baller says that not only does this project address the need for more housing, but it also helps a lot of local businesses. "when you look at all of the businesses and local contractors that are impacted when a house is built they say that those dollars get circulated seven times on average in the community. so we are very fortunate in hartington to have a number of local contractors that we can use." hartington has found a bigger need in housing than they have expected. instead of two and a half houses, 4 homes a year are being completed, putting phase two on the table earlier than anticipated. this expansion brings interest to an area where rural housing has been an issue in recent past. the state of iowa is providing more than $900,000 to help the homeless in iowa. the communi

ktiv's own matt breen had the honor of leading today's ceremony. norfolk, nebraska veterans gathered to honor those who served or are serving. retired navy caplin mike moreno was the guest speaker at the norfolk veterans home. moreno served eight years on aaive duty, and still l rves in the e serves. he spoke about purpose, and said those who serve put on the uniform so the "we don't fight because we hate the people in front of us, we fight because of the people behind us that we love and that's you guys." moreno went on to say people can honor the terans who died by following theieidreams. today, students of lyons-decatur northeast gave back to veterans today. every student, preschool through 12th grade took part in a special assembly . they do it every year. after the pledge of allegience, fourth graders read a special poem. some of the seniors shared the stories of veterans they interviewed. the students also raised $5,000 for a veterans memorial being plannein lyons. jerry ludwig accepted the check and was so moved he couldn't speak.
