. >> i'm laura garcia.ari. >> starting with a few clouds and fog near the coast. our typical start to the day. this is basically yesterday's picture and the day before's picture. once again we start out in the low 60s. as we go into today, gradually the fog starts to clear out. take a look at all of our microclimates. our temperatures headed for 68 degrees in san francisco, 75 in oakland. a lot of our temperatures coming down a few degrees as we expected after such a hot start for our interior valleys. mostly upper 80s for the hottest spots in the inland areas. mike, you were looking at a crash. what's going on? >> we've got our live camera turned south from the coliseum. northbound side reports of a crash around 66. i don't see any problem. the vehicles were reported off to the shoulder just before the show, and i don't see even that going on right now. there was a crash also in the southbound side. so both directions just south of the coliseum reporting issues. but neither side reporting any slow sensors.

. >> i'm laura garcia. a look at the forecast with meteorologist kari hall. happy monday. >> happy monday. it's been really nice. over the weekend we caught a break from the heat especially yesterday. now today we are seeing fog in san francisco. inland areas headed back to mid-90s. upper 90s for today. dublin a high of 90 degrees and reaching 83 in fremont. you can see how much the temperatures change moving around the bay area. san francisco in the mid-70s. upper 80s and 90s. there is some cooler air in the forecast. but, mike, a freeway is shut down? >> that's right. highway 84. not for the normal overnight construction. that construction did not take place in niles. 84 is closed because of what i just learned from chp is a major injury crash just to the east of 680. you cannot use that cut through right now. this is by little valley road. so that is the major problem and concerned about the people involved and the folks making that commute. use the dublin interchange or the service streets. we'll track the rest of the build as folks build in. back to you.

i'm marcus washington. >> and i'm laura garcia. let's start with a look at traffic. mike is tracking several alerts. >> it's going to be an issue for folks in the north bay, two alerts are there. looking at south 101, there is a deadly crash south 101 at sausalito at spencer avenue, the location given just a few minutes ago. we learned chp reopened one of those southbound lanes so at least traffic is able to get through and bridgeway is where a lot of folks are also i'm sure using if you're leaving from sausalito you'll join the freeway south of there. north of there, there's another issue with a bunch of metal chains perhaps across the lanes over in san rafael north 101 just past 580, the slowing seems to be clearing there, so i'll wait for an update, hopefully we have more lanes cleared in that section. earlier truck fire east 80 at elportal. as the sun comes up folks will see the burnt out big rig and be distracted. westbound is slow with the commute through san pablo. >> let's get to weather where we're enjoying quiet condition

i'm laura garcia. we'll check in with kari in a moment. mike has been following breaking news on highway 101. >> at one point all of southbound 101 was blocked in mountain view. we have two lanes open now, so only half the freeway. this is unusual slowing, unexpected delay for folks out of palo alto and towards sunnyvale. south 101 south of the 85 transition, right around here, moffitt boulevard. if you get past the scene and on ellison, everything is fine south of there. middlefield, el camino will take you to the same area south of the crash, south of moffett field. that is one issue for the south bay. the northbound commute is kicking in. again, that's expected. south e 101 from mountain view into sunnyvale is unexpectedly slow. two lanes open there. only one lane of westbound 80 is open after a crash leaves debris scattered throughout the area. some folks are going back up and heading toward merritt island. that may add to the congestion. if you stick it out, you're okay once you pass by the crockett area and the carcinas bridge. the t

. >> and i'm laura garcia. we'll check in with mike who has an update on the road conditions before you head out the door. let's start out with a look at the forecast. how do we dress today? >> depends where you are. along the coastline it's been chilly there. we've had some fog. if you're inland and getting ready for school today, in livermore, we start out at 61 degrees but then look at how much hotter it's going to be at the time that last school bell rings. we go from low 60s to 90 here today, and it's going to be nice and sunny as well. take a look at all of our microclimates, and our high temperatures, napa headed up for 85 degrees. 71 in san francisco and san jose reaching 81 degrees, with some low to mid-90s for our interior valleys. we'll check out what's ahead. mike, you've been tracking a crash. what is the update? >> it's been a while but still on the grid westbound highway 4. the motorcycle crash, i did report chp said riders walking around is one of the big concerns, when a motorcycle is involved.

laura garcia has the morning off. it is another big day for back to school. kari will look at the school stop, the bus stop forecast. mike, you've been following big trouble on the been been. >> folks, turn to the screen even if you don't go to the bay bridge which is looking like this right now. look at the ambulance, paramedics truck, a number of chp. we're talking about this crash. they just have the hov lanes blocked and traffic is relatively light after a full traffic break causing a big backup. over here the ambulance and tow trucks over here. look at this video, this is from earlier this morning, not too long ago, the smoke here and this is the crash vehicle. someone's running across and there are a couple of vehicles, close calls over there. there's another vehicle here in the trees and so both vehicles have injuries as we get back to the live shot, you saw all the vehicles have been cleared from the toll plaza itself but they do have all those chp vehicles and the ambulance there taking care of injuries at the toll plaza and distraction. from our oth

. >> and i'm laura garcia. we start out with mike inouye tracking some breaking news when it comes to traffic and that commute. >> if you're just joining us, folks, this is a problem north bay actually two problems, one in the east bay but this issue getting down to the golden gate bridge will have traffic restricted another half hour until the corner it arrives, a deadly crash southbound 101 leaves only one lane open headed through sausalito so you can expect a lot of slowing from the marin city line. again, i think the coroner should arrive in the next half hour and may mean another half hour to 45 minutes it may last past 7:00. northbound restricted to one lane north of 580. a bunch of metal debris in lanes. crews are trying to take care of that. no word on when they'll reopen and this counter commute eastbound 80 at el portal an earlier truck fire leaves one lane open. they put out cones instead of flares. that means they intend for that closure to be in place for a long time as well. back to you. >> thanks

. >> and i'm laura garcia. we're going to check in with kari in a moment. mike has been busy following a serious accident. >> someone lost their life as a result of this crash, the coroner is yet to get on the scene, so we may be looking at this entire 6:00 hour with this closure. let me show you what we're talking about with the arrows. the crash above here flashing lights blocking the hov lane coming off of the berkeley curve. you see it flared off here. even if you weren't going to use that hov lane, the flares are slowing people and that traffic has to shift everyone who was carpooling into that jammed up curve as well. the backup quickly formed in the last few minutes, all the way back past university toward golden gate field, that's a huge issue where you expect friday light traffic. the rest of contra costa county is moving lightly. a new incident some issue on highway 84 cutting through livermore. use the dublin interchange instead of 84 cutting through. we'll bring the update on that one coming up. >> let's get a live look in dublin as the sun come

"today in the bay's" bob redell breaking down the fire danger and where to go to escape that weather. >> how hot is it going to get? meteorologist kari hall is tracking the time line for today's warmup. >> the earlier the better. i saw someone already getting in the pool behind bob this morning. if you can get out there around sunrise or before noon, we're going to see our temperatures staying mild but it will heat up quickly for the afternoon. the heat advisory for all of these areas shaded in orange starts at 11:00 this morning, continues through 8:00 in the evening, so around sunset. it's still going to be pretty hot in a lot of the far inland valleys. as we look at these high temperatures versus the records, even though it's going to be dangerously hot, we are not expected to break any new records this afternoon. santa rosa reaching 97. the reco

i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm kris sanchez. marcus washington has the day off. we want to get a start of the day with the look at the forecast. i hear there's a cooldown. >> i'm so looking forward to this. it's been hot in the valley the last couple of days. >> yes. >> the fog near the coastline kept those areas cool. that will continue today. a stronger ocean breeze will help us out and bring that cool ocean breeze farther inland. as we take a live look outside in san jose, starting out with some clouds and it's going to be a partly cloudy morning at 8:00, we're at 65 degrees. as we go through the day we'll see our temperatures warming up into the low 80s, which is actually a little bit cooler than normal for this time of year. look at our high temperatures for all of our microclimates ranging from upper 60s in half moon bay to 89 in novato and 96 in fairfield and we'll see some low 90s for morgan hill and san martin. the continued cooling will be in the forecast as we go toward the middle to end of the week. we'll talk about that in a few minutes. mike, what's

. >> and i'm laura garcia. let's talk about the heat, the triple-digit temperatures and latest reminder of higher fire risk as well. dozens of tri-valley families are back in their homes this morning after a grass fire triggered evacuation orders. it burned close to 60 acres after starting yesterday about 5:00 at night near interstate 580 and eden canyon road in castro valley. this morning firefighters say it is almost entirely out. still no word on a cause. >> we're in for hot temperatures all week long, increasing fire risks across california. meteorologist kari hall here with what we can expect. is today supposed to be one of the hotter days this week? >> today is the peak of the heat but we are going to see still some hot days as we go toward the next couple of days. the heat advisory in effect starts at 11:00 this morning for all of those areas shaded in orange, and it's mostly the inland east bay and the north bay. you want to make sure that you're reduing your outdoor activity and drinking lots of water

i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington. all right, let's get you started with that day on this monday, kicking things off. we want to get a look at the forecast for you. meteorologist kari hall tracking what we can expect and kari, i looked ahead at that forecast and how is today shaping up for us? >> it looks nicer compared to what we've had recently as our temperatures continue to cool off. we're concerned about air quality and it's going to be a hazy day, as you're heading out in dublin, we're starting out temperatures in the upper 50s, a light wind and we'll see a few clouds for the start of the day. clearing out as we go into late morning and our temperatures warming up to the mid-70s by noon eventually reaching 85 degrees for a high temperature there in dublin. for mountain view look for a high of about 78, once again feeling comfortable for much of the bay area, but the trend will be for things to heat up and we're going to be watching that. i'll have more on that as well as what to expect for the holiday weekend, th

i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington. the weekend's here. >> let's get a look at that forecast. finally the cooldown. >> yes, it's going to be nice for much of the bay area, but we do still have our microclimates, meaning our inland valleys will be hot. we're checking out pleasant hill. i know you have to get to work today. it starts out at 60 degrees. we'll see a mix of sun and clouds. our temperatures will start to warm up as we head toward late morning, and your lunch time temperature at 81 degrees. take a look at all of our highs, martinez reaching 92 degrees. 87 in napa, and we will see some mild weather near the coast, down the peninsula, and across the bay. but once you get away from the water, it's going to be hot, and we're going to see temperatures in morgan hill headed for 94 degrees. so we'll talk more about this, look at that weekend forecast, it's coming up in a few minutes. >>> developing now in watsonville, federal investigators are trying to piece together the deadly collision involving two planes attempt
