i am laura garcia. >> i am marcus washington.hat is the latest with this one? >> we don't know what train that operator trainee was on or what possible risk to the public was, but what we can tell you is light-rail service is shutdown and there's no bus bridge service for the time being. instead of light-rail riders, folks will have to figure something out because all light-rail workers will stay home until further instructed or tested. a trainee tested positive yesterday evening, and by 11:30 last night all light-rail service was shutdown, and there was six trains running at the time. effective today the light-rail parked and will undergo thorough cleaning. a vta ridership is already down because of the bay area-wide shutdown and it's a rough time for transit workers bart ridership down also. the new federal stimulus bill has $25 billion in funds for relief for transit agencies, but that's money for the country, and at this point we don't know what part of the pie the transit agencies will get, and the bart agency is meeting tod

. >> i am marcus washington. vta is taking all light-rail trains out of service for deep cleaning. today in the bay's kris sanchez is live. i know this will affect those relying on light-rail this morning, so what is the backup plan for them? >> reporter: i will tell you, folks that ride the light-rail might wonder what possible exposure was, and at this point we just don't know because we don't know what train that operator trainee was on, and we don't know what kind of exposure the public might have had. this is the service side flashing over the platform, and instead of light-rail riders will depend on bus bridges, but all the vta operators will stay home until further instructions or they are tested. they were notified overnight a vta operator trainee tested positive yesterday evening and by 11:30 last night all light-rail service was shutdown, and six trains were running at the time but now all trains are parked and will undergo cleaning. bus service will replace the light-rail service. for people who depend on public transit this makes life even harder. >> it's more of a hass

i'm marcus washington. and we begin with breaking news. the state department is expected to raise its travel advisory world wide to level 4, which means do not travel over the global impact of the coronavirus pandemic. earlier this morning during a news conference, president trump announcing that the fda has a possible new anti-viral treatment this is to fight the coronavirus. but the possibility of it getting to americans quickly remains unknown. the drug, he says, is called hydroxy chloraquin. it is used to fight malaria. he says it could hold a great promise and could be a game changer. >> the nice part of it is it's been around for a long time so we know if things don't go as planned, it's not going to kill anybody. when you go with a brand-new drug. it's a powerful drug in different forms and it's shown very encouraging, very, very encouraging early results. >> now, it's important to know the fda says while the drug is approved to treat malaria, it is not aproed to treat coronavirus yet. and it still needs to undergo clinical trials.
