no delay now on westbound 580 towards the richmond/san rafael bridge. we'll be watching it closely though all morning long and there were some good sized backups yesterday. westbound four in the clear towards 242. along the peninsula areas of overnight roadwork northbound 101 from sfo towards 380 various lanes blocked. we just checked in with caltrans, they are expected to wrap it up at 6:00. in the meantime, a few brake lights northbound past the airport. also your east bay drive times so far in the clear if you are traveling the nimitz or down the eastshore freeway. so off to a great start for your monday morning ride there. and mass transit so far still on time. knob. >>> a lot of hot temperatures outside. today we'll cool off as we have seen a sea breeze bringing with it low clouds and fog toward the coast even a couple of patches of fog inside the bay. temperatures now in the 40s and the 50s. i think as we head through the day that sea breeze will keep things cooler outside and you can see the fog along the coast and made its way just into the bay

. >>> brace yourself for major delays if you take the richmond/san rafael bridge. starting today traffic will be shifted on 580 east of the toll plaza on the richmond side. sue kwon joins us with more. >> reporter: so far, so good, pretty smooth. a lot of trucks coming down the area but we'll see what happens when the commute ramps up. there are changes here for commuters in particular. the "s" curve approaching the toll plaza, speed limit down to 45 miles an hour and no shoulder and the lanes will be really narrow. let's look at what this looks like from above. westbound traffic drivers will shift across the median and east- and westbound traffic will share side by side a total of four lanes two on each. in this area there's going to be an "s" curve as you get on the toll plaza so caltrans can replace items in the area just east of the toll plaza. >> it's the bridge that crosses the chevron oil pipes so it's dangerous. they are crossing over those big pipes. it has to be done carefully and they can't have cars going on and around it while they're doing it. >> repo

in san rafael we have blue sky and a beautiful shot of the decorative high clouds over san pablo bay. we are in a break right now. we are not getting showers for the time being. we have a lot of low-level moisture at the surface. there could be drizzle or sprinkles but no heavy showers according to the live storm tracker 4. the golden gate bridge and low-level moisture is building up. we have mostly cloudy skies. showers possible. we are waiting for the next wave of rain coming for monday. it will not be as heavy as expected just off and on light rain through the day. this system will stall out over the state and keep the clouds and showers going through mid- day tuesday. we are cloudy and notice a couple of blips showing up. the next wave arrives. there is hardly anything here to talk about, so just a couple of passing showers, but we will see extra rain for late monday night to tuesday morning. the next band of rain could be in position just in time for the tuesday morning commute. that could be wet as well. so alongar the 60s and 70s. antioch was 93, so big change there. again show

the lanes approaching the richmond/san rafael bridge are closed for caltrans work which shifted drivers over the median into two westbound lanes. it's a tight squeeze with no shoulders. no wonder joseph thomas is trying to steer clear of the area on his recycling rounds. >> i saw the congestion and how backed up it is but i mean, you know, i mean what can i say? you just have to adjust. that's all you have to say. you have to be patient, though, but still, it's a change. >> what we're doing here is reducing speed to 45 miles per hour. we have asked the support of the chp and the public to cooperate and slow down. >> reporter: it's all so caltrans can replace sections of the roadway that sit over chevron pipes in the stretch leading up to the toll plaza. the project also requires crews to close the eastbound western drive on-ramp for three months and that means drivers with trailers or big rigs need to take a nine-mile detour on the bridge towards san rafael and turn around at san quentin to head east again. it's a shorter detour for smaller trucks and cars. >> everyday commuters, people

and outside a look at your drive along 101 coming to central san rafael and we are looking at clear conditionscontinue to follow breaking news in san francisco's marina district a tree toppled over blocking several lanes of a busy street. matt keller has the latest on how the cleanup is going. matt? >> the choneup hasn't even started but the westbound lanes on lombard in between this area are still blocked off and you can see the tree is still here with crews expected in the next half hour. you can see the tree and the damage it did to a parked lexus after 4:00 this morning, no one was injured but drivers are impacted, and police recommend police get around this by taking a detour around chestnut. no word on why the tree fell. i asked if another car could have hit the tree and they say, no, that is not a possible. crews are expecting to be here soon but, still, no word on how long this tree is expected to be here in the street. >> thank you, from drives in san francisco to drives who travel between the east and north bay you need to get out of bed earlier this morning and maybe out the door ea
