nbc bay area's sergio quintana live at the lincoln park golf course. sergio, what do we know? >> reporter: we know that at about 2:20 this afternoon san francisco police were called out here for what they describe as a welfare check. as we arrived on scene, we talked to four golfers who described something pretty shocking. this is what one of those golfers described to us. >> i thought it was just a bad smell as we played through that hole. we believe they told the clubhouse. they checked on it and two golfers were sitting there giving statements, about 10, 15 . hole. >> at this point everything is very preliminary. the incident is ruled a suspicious death at this point. with any suspicious death, our san francisco police department homicide investigators come out and conduct an investigation. >> reporter: at this hour those investigators are still conducting interviews with people who may have seen something. they are also asking anyone who happened to have been around the 13th hole here at the golf course to tell of anything they may have seen that was out of the ordinary. t

nbc bay area's sergio quintana is two blocks from oak grove high. sergio, what's the situation right now? >> reporter: you can see that there are residents that are actually leaving from here. i've been talking with a couple who said that they were actually evacuated from their home and then others are being told that if they leave, they will not be allowed to return. now, let's go ahead and show you some video, activity going on a few yards from here, very active you n see police using the ar armoured personnel carrier. residents say it started 5:30 this afternoon when they heard a loud explosion. when police arrived, they started hearing officers negotiating with one of their neighbors who they don't know. they could hear the police saying, come out for the sake of your family. i talked with one woman who has been driving around trying to figure out how to to her house, but the street is blocked off. >> i was looking for parking about one hour, but i couldn't find it. >> reporter: were there a lot of police there? >> yes, the police is there. >> re

sergio quintana live on the scene with an update. >> reporter: terry , that tanker truck has been put upright and taken out of here. but i want to show you on california 37 you can see the traffic is being limited to one lane. that's because so much fuel spilled out of that truck that caltrans is concerned that the road might be compromised. this is the tank that ruptured when it crashed on a its side. according to the california highway patrol, it contained 4,300 gallons of premium gasoline. the driver of the truck didn't negotiate the turn all that well and the truck toppled over. no one was hurt but the leaking fuel caused an immediate concern for drivers through here and for several wineries and farms in the area. they were forced to shut down for hours as caltrans and hazardous materials team worked. it's only one lane open now because crews -- if there's damage to the road because so much gasoline can actually cause the asphalt to degrade. >> the highway patrol as well as caltrans and cleanup crews will be here until 5:30 a.m. monday morgan unt in the morning until we can assess

nbc bay area's sergio quintana live in san francisco tonight. sergio. >> reporter: what's especially frustrating for the owners of this ice cream shop is that their location is literally across the zreet from the san francisco police department's potrero hill station and that still didn't seem to serve as any kind of deterrent in this break-in. take a look at this video. according to the owners of milk bomb ice cream, this person entered their story about 4:30 early thursday morning. the shop owner says the prowler went into the back of the business and tried to access their safe. when that didn't work, the cash register was the next target. you can see the person leaving the ice cream shop. the register is in that shopping bag. that's why for the last several days workers have only been able to process credit cards. one of the owners talked to me about the break-in by video call. she was a little disappointed it took police officers a while to respond. they weren't able to file a police report until the following day. >> yeah, they're right acro

nbc bay area's sergio quintana was at tonight's vigil. that's where sergio is right now. >> reporter: i was able to talk to kayla rodriguez's father tonight. he has been out searching along with other friends and family. and tonight here at third by that pointis church in san francisco, people came together to pray. for many, this is a somber event because it's now been nearly a week and a half since friends justin winfrey and kayla rodriguez have been seen. the pair took off in mendocino county. it disappeared from radar shortly after takeoff. this weekend friends and family were able to charter a helicopter to search along the mendocino county coast for any signs of them. at tonight's vigil there is some sadness, but they are still holding onto the possibility that they will be found. >> praying that wherever he is, wherever they are, they are not suffering, that god is holding them in his hands. >> everyone is still looking and hoping that we find kayla and justin even though a lot of our co-workers are out looking as well. >> reporter:
