are you fired up to head off to sonoma county?t a great day. strike. great area. um, we skipped it last year. we didn't get a chance to go out there and race in california last year, so the racetrack is, i always look at it as a short track type of road course. yeah, the closed tight quarters, bumping and banging for sure. heavy braking zones tire wear it makes it a fun road course to try to find your way around. makes it very challenging as well. so looking forward to getting out there, it's got its ups and downs. its twists and turns is 2.5 miles. i mean, what do you love about it, but at the same time as a race car driver, what are you not looking forward to about the racetrack? um, yeah. you got to learn to love them all. that's one thing i've learned throughout my years of experience is you don't choose what track you go, too. so you better learn to love them all. you better figure it all out. one way or another, um and sonoma was one of those ray strikes that was very challenging for me early in my career, um, feel like we h

you don't have any of the midlevel clouds that have filled in sonoma. if we look at map, it shows where the clouds are and where they aren't. they are not in the north bay. at least not in sonoma. as far as the east bay while it's cloudy we will advance that. the clouds melt back to the immediate coastline and in through the golden gate. that should be it. it'll be thick enough at the coast that we will probably get a little bit of mist but it shouldn't be a major factor. let's get daytime highs in here. while we will take a look at the brief overview to show you the low to mid-90s for inland spots. 94 in concord. 95 in santa rosa is warm but look at san jose. only going to 84. if you check in on the daytime highs, down in the heart of the bay we will be in the mid-70s. however, what we need to do for the daytime high is pull out a little more detail. take a look at the south bay where we will see most mid- 80s's. the reason why i want to show more detail is because of the daytime highs once we get up into lake and mendecino county. that's where tempera

and our north bay highs reaching up to 78 in sonoma. we are getting that strong ocean breeze picking up. but we've been keeping an eye on what's happening farther to the north across the pacific northwest. we are still looking at some very warm temperatures in portland, oregon, reaching 86 degrees. 80 in seattle today. and 103 in missoula, montana. but those temperatures are coming down. that will be the trend. one other thing i'm watching regional as we are looking at the weather pattern. we see the high pressure building for the desert southwest, but it's also bringing in a surge of some monsoonal moisture. each day we've seen these thunderstorms bubble up under the heat of the day. and it's also been sparking off some fires in some of those areas because it's been lightning without the rain. we call that dry lightning. so there is the possibility of that over the sierra as well. as we tap into that monsoonal moisture. we are watching our reservoir levels. we are only seeing most of our largest reservoirs a little more than half of th

emily turner is live in sonoma with the latest on the state's drought monitor declarations. emily. >> reporter: that map just came down literally not even minutes ago. we have that for you. in the meantime, sonoma water is expected to have a meeting at 6:00 to go over what this means. take a look at the map that's just in to our newsroom. it doesn't look a whole lot different than last month. however, it is drier. unfortunately with no rain in sight, this will likely continue to get worse and worse throughout the summer. later today, as we will hear from sonoma water but in the meantime, they are telling people to get ready for 6:00. they are going to be having a meeting and to also get ready for the drought ahead. that will happen at 6:00. they'll be discussing the drought and impacts to the russian river watershed as well as request for state approval to lower minimum in stream flows to the river in order to preserve water in lake sonoma. that virtual meeting will be tonight on the website. in marin county, the water district there delayed a decision over the new hook up p
