the office of independent monitor does not go away. we are by the city hall where a rally just wrapped up. >>reporter: the denver justice project is behind that push. members tell me the current mayor or any of his successors to do away with the independent monitor's office if they by an ordinance. it came a part of the city charter and doing away with it would be difficult. a little earlier protesters gathered outside the city and county building asking members to do the right thing and the office reviews investigations related to access the police force and misconduct and makes recommendations. >> it has been difficult in the past for the office to make findings on investigations didn't have all the facts. they have been having problems getting body camera footage and things like that.>>reporter: denver city council recently strengthened the ordinance requiring the denver police turn over records in a timely manner. alex of the denver justice products says he would also like to see the office of independent monitor be given investigative authority and a bigger budget. he would also like the public office. >>>
